- co-operating packaging members in accordance with the invention may be provided with inter-engaging formations such that two or more members can be positively coupled together in use. This is particularly desirable in the case wher members are adapted to encapsulate the packaged object.
- Fig 26 shows an example in which first and second packaging members 40, 42 are provided with inter-engaging male and female formations 40A and 42A on their mating surfaces.
- the formations 40A and 42A may comprise co- operating ridges and slots, pegs and sockets, or the like, and may be shaped so as to provide an interference-type push-fit as indicated in Fig. 26A.

Abstract
L'invention se rapporte à des éléments de protection ou d'emballage d'articles comportant des éléments creux (1) moulés par soufflage et possédant des appendices structuraux appropriés pour améliorer les caractéristiques de résistance et d'amortissement des éléments creux. Les éléments creux comprennent une membrane externe enfermant hermétiquement un volume au niveau de la pression atmosphérique ou à une pression supérieure à celle-ci. Ces appendices structuraux peuvent consister en des évidements, rainures ou protubérances et un affaissement contrôlé ou déformation des éléments peut se produire en réponse aux charges mécaniques. Les éléments creux peuvent être configurés de manière à venir en contact avec des sections particulières d'un article et à les protéger, telles que des angles ou bords, ou pour encapsuler l'article; ces éléments peuvent comporter également des moyens de régulation de pression, des dispositifs de relaxation des contraintes, des éléments de gonflage et de dégonflage, modifiant localement des épaisseurs de parois, et des structures d'interconnexion pour connecter les éléments entre eux.
