Description

Pocket with perforation opening. The present invention relates to a pocket with aperture by perforation produced from a flexible film folded and welded on itself, and more particularly a pocket of this type further comprising two adjacent plies each comprising two thicknesses of film extending along one side of the pocket. This type of bag is intended in particular for transfusion of liquid.

When it is desired to use a bag for transfusion of a liquid, the bag is generally filled in a sterile manner and at the time of its use the wall of the bag is punctured by means of a hollow sterile puncture tip connected to a transfusion tube itself associated with a needle. The sterile piercing tip must be kept attached to the bag for the duration of the transfusion.

Pockets of the type recalled above are known, in which the two adjacent folds form a bellows inside which is fixed a small tubular sleeve having one end opening out at the edge of the pocket and an opposite end opening out opposite the bottom of the bellows. When using the bag for a transfusion, the puncture tip is engaged in the sleeve and is kept engaged in the latter by a force fitting. The hollow perforation tip has a length greater than that of the sleeve so that the perforation end piece passes through the wall of the pocket when it is placed in the sleeve and thus ensures a flow of the liquid in the tube of transfusion with which it is associated. In order to avoid leakage of liquid after perforation of the bag, it is necessary to ensure not only a seal between the hollow perforation end piece and the sleeve, which is generally obtained by force fitting, but also between the tubular sleeve and the wall of the pocket. The fixing of the sleeve to the pocket and its tightness relative to the wall of the pocket are generally obtained by welding the wall of the pocket on the sleeve.

However, due to the very high thermal inertia of the tubular sleeve compared to that of the flexible film, the existing welding devices cause either insufficient fusion of the surface of the tubular sleeve so that the weld obtained is not good. quality and does not ensure sufficient sealing, ie sufficient fusion of the surface of the tubular sleeve but the film is then overheated too strongly and risks being pierced at the place of the weld. In either case the result is not satisfactory.

Also known from document US-A-3,991, 912 is a pocket in which two thicknesses facing the two adjacent plies are fixed together according to connecting segments having opposite ends. The connecting segments delimit a space in which the perfora¬ tion tip is introduced when using the pocket. Toute¬ time r in this document the connection segments define a very large space and it is therefore necessary to provide a separate retaining member of the connector such as a perforation in which is engaged a rivet carried by the nozzle. The production of the pocket and the end piece therefore remain complex. An object of one invention is to provide a pocket which is easy to produce and also allows easy installation and maintenance of a puncture tip.

In order to achieve this goal, there is provided according to the invention a pocket with perforation opening made from a flexible film folded and welded on itself and comprising at least two adjacent holding plies each comprising two film thicknesses extending along one side of the pocket, the two holding pleats having at least two facing thicknesses fixed to each other according to at least two connecting segments having facing ends, in which the facing ends of the segments of connection delimit a conduit ensuring a guidance and a maintenance of a perforating end-piece having a section greater than that of the conduit.

Thus, when a perforation end piece is introduced into the duct delimited by the connecting segments, the end piece is guided until it provides perforation of the bottom of the bellows constituted by the two adjoining holding plies and the 'tip is held in place by a tension of the film forming the pocket. According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, the opposite ends of the connecting segments include inclined parts facing outwards from the pocket. Thus, the perforation end piece is guided towards the conduit between the ends of the connecting segments so that the positioning of the perforation end piece is facilitated.

According to another advantageous aspect of the invention, one of the holding folds has an edge recessed with respect to the other holding fold. Thus, the longest holding fold constitutes a bearing surface for the perfora¬ tion tip at the time of its installation which is further facilitated.

According to yet another advantageous aspect of the invention, the two thicknesses of a retaining ply are fixed to each other on at least one part corresponding to the connecting segments, and the connecting segments preferably have an internal edge inclined towards leads him. This ensures that all the liquid contained in the bag can flow to the hollow perforation tip used to carry out the transfusion of this liquid.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent on reading the following description of a particular non-limiting embodiment of the invention in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: - Figure 1 is an elevation view of the pocket according to the invention,

De préférence, les extrémités en regard 7 des segments de liaison 6 comportent des parties inclinées 9 tournées vers 1 ' extérieure de la poche de façon à faciliter 1 ' introduction d'un embout de perforation 10 lorsque celui-ci est introduit dans le conduit 8.With reference to the figures, the pocket according to the invention is produced in a manner known per se from a flexible film folded and welded onto itself and comprising for this purpose two lateral welds 1 and two upper welds 2 between which a hooking opening 3 is produced, in the illustrated embodiment, the hooking opening 3 is also bordered by a weld in order to avoid any pollution between the two thicknesses of the film forming the pocket. Along its lower edge, the pocket comprises two adjacent folds generally designated at 4 and 5. The fold 4 has an outside thickness 4.1 and an inside thickness 4.2, and the fold has an outside thickness 5.1 and an inside thickness 5.2. The interior thicknesses 4.2 and 5.2 are opposite. In the preferred embodiment illustrated, the four thicknesses are welded together according to two connecting segments 6 having opposite ends 7 which, in relation to the parts of film thicknesses 4.2 and 5.2 opposite, delimit a duct 8. Preferably, the facing ends 7 of the connecting segments 6 comprise inclined parts 9 facing towards the outside of the pocket so as to facilitate the introduction of a perforating end piece 10 when this is introduced into the duct 8 .

The connecting segments 6 are preferably produced by welding the film to itself according to welds 11 which combine the four film thicknesses together over the entire surface of the connecting segments 6.

As can be seen in FIGS. 2 and 3, the fold 4 has an edge set back with respect to the fold 5 so that the end part of the fold 5 serves as a support for the puncture tip 10 during its positioning, which facilitates its positioning opposite the duct 8 before the end piece is engaged in the duct 8.

The connecting segments 6 preferably have an inner edge 12 inclined towards the conduit 8 between the connecting segments.

The particular structure of the pocket according to the invention can be produced using the usual step machines for producing the pockets. In this regard, it will be noted that the folds 4 and 5 are formed while the pocket is flat and the common internal edge 13 of the folds 4 and 5 then extends along a line 14 parallel to the corresponding edge of the pocket, shown in dotted lines in FIG. 1. The welds 11 associating the different thicknesses according to connecting segments 6 are then produced in the usual way by applying a welding electrode to the stack of film thicknesses. This welding electrode has a contour adapted to the profile of the connecting segments that it is desired to produce. It will be noted in this connection that the two thicknesses 5.1 and 5.2 of the part of the fold 5 which extends beyond the fold 4 are preferably associated with each other so as to give a better rigidity to this part of the fold 5 and thus ensure more efficient guiding of the puncture tip 10 at the time of its installation. The pocket is filled with liquid in the usual way during its continuous manufacturing step by step with the side welds 1 arranged horizontally, the side welds being carried out successively, one before the filling of the pocket and the other after the filling of the pocket. When the bag is full of liquid and is suspended in the position illustrated in FIG. 1, the liquid is supported on the internal edge 13 common to the folds 4 and 5 and this internal edge is then supported on the internal edge of the weld 11 between thicknesses 4.2 and 5.2 so that the internal edge 13 takes a funnel profile towards the conduit 8 as illustrated in thick dotted lines in FIG. 1.

In use, a perforating end piece 10 is preferably used which has a cross section slightly greater than the cross section of the duct delimited by the space between the connecting segments 6 and the parts of thicknesses 4.2 and 5.2 opposite this space. so that the hollow perforation tip 10 is guided by the conduit 8 and then slightly engaged by force therein and the tension which is then exerted on the film thicknesses 4.2 and 5.2 simultaneously ensures that the 1 'is maintained perforation tip in place and a seal thereof with respect to the pocket.

In the embodiment described above there is a risk of perforating the side wall of the pocket during the introduction of one perforation tip which is very pointed, if the latter is not engaged parallel to the side walls . Figures 4 to 8 illustrate an alternative embodiment aimed at minimizing this risk.

In this alternative embodiment, in addition to the holding folds 4 and 5, two safety folds 15 are provided, arranged on either side of the associated holding folds. FIGS. 5 to 8 illustrate the different stages of the shaping of the film to produce the safety folds and the holding folds. The security folds 15 are first of all formed symmetrically, as illustrated in FIG. 5, by means of a shaper not shown. The width of film between the safety plies 15 is provided to be sufficient to allow the posterior plies 4 and 5 to be produced at the next station illustrated in FIG. 6, the film thicknesses forming the security plies 15 are fixed to each other as well as to the immediately adjacent film thickness on two welding lines 16 extending along the edges of the security plies 15. To prevent the security pleats 15 are not welded together, a counter electrode 17 is introduced between the film parts intended to form the side walls of the pocket. The security folds and the adjacent wall part thus form a three-layer mattress. At the next station illustrated in FIG. 7, the central part of the film is shaped according to the holding plies 4 and 5 which are then fixed together by welding according to welds 11 having the outline of the connecting segments 6 as indicated previously and as illustrated by Figure 8. According to the preferred embodiment of this variant and as illustrated by Figures 7 and 8, the edge 13 common to the holding plies 4 and 5 preferably extends at an intermediate level between the upper edge and the edge lower security folds 15 and the connecting segments 6 overlap the security folds 15. Thus, as soon as the tip of one puncture tip enters the pocket, it is adjacent to a safety fold so that if the tip of one puncture tip is directed towards a side wall, it pierces one or two thicknesses of one of the safety plies 15 and the resistance offered by these thicknesses to penetration on of the perforation tip signals to the user that his perforation tip is improperly engaged so that he stops his movement before the side wall has been completely pierced. This avoids creating a leak in the pocket when it is put into service.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above and it is possible to make variant embodiments without departing from the scope of the invention. In particular, although in the preferred embodiment illustrated, the two thicknesses 4.1 and 4.2 or 5.1 and 5.2 of a folds are fixed together on the part corresponding to the connecting segments 6 in order to prevent liquid from engaging between thicknesses 4.1 and 4.2 on the one hand or 5.1 and 5.2 on the other hand, the invention can be implemented by providing only a fixing of thicknesses 4.2 and 5.2 between them since it is between these thicknesses that the perfora¬ tion tip 10 is introduced.

Likewise, although the invention has been illustrated with a pocket comprising only two connecting segments 6 delimiting between them a single conduit 8 for the passage of a nozzle 10, it is possible to provide several series of connecting segments delimiting conduits of various dimensions, the conduit selected during the use of the pocket being the one which is best suited to the perforating tip used to maintain it after its installation. The connecting segments can of course have any outline suitable for a particular use of the bag.

The film thicknesses are preferably fixed to one another by hot welding, but other means can be used, in particular a hot-melt adhesive or a contact adhesive.

Although the alternative embodiment of FIGS. 4 to 8 has been illustrated with two safety folds 15, a safety fold can only be provided on the side where it is most likely that the wall of the pocket risks being accidentally pierced during 1 introduction of 1 perforation tip. In particular, in the case of a holding fold 5 longer than the other, the safety fold, if it is unique, will preferably be provided immediately adjacent to the longest holding fold. It is also possible to provide several superposed security folds in order to increase the film thicknesses. The overlapping of several plies is however limited by the possibilities of suitably shaping the film and of welding the plies together without risking tearing the film, as well as the cost of the amount of additional film required to form the pleats.
