Skids (3) at the bottom provided with a forwards pointed edge or forwards pointed pins (4) and at the top provided with one or more bevelled longitudinal cutouts (6) are fitted in said profile. The edge or pins (4) of the skids (3) are folded into position in the rail (2) of the skirting profile (1) thereby engaging them with the skirting profile (1). Said skids (3) are temporarily fixed in a wall or the like (8) by means of screws, nails or the like (5) initially not fully secured. The skirting profile (1) is thereafter if necessary horizontally levelled by pushing the skids (3) in either direction along the rail (2) of the skirting profile (1).
Description
PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLING A CARRYING SKIRTING PROFILE FOR WALL-TILES, WALLBOARDS AND THE LIKE
The present invention relates to a process for installing and mounting of a carrying skirting profile for wall-tiles, wallboards and the like.
Presently the market holds various supporting skirting profiles. Mostly these profiles are installed and mounted on the wall by means of screws, nails or the like applied directly through the profile itself. Such an installation results in a number of problems. Most of all the profile will be difficult to level horizontally. If the skirting profile is not exactly horizontally levelled when mounting wall-tiles, wallboards and the like these will be tilted with pendant play at joints and roof endings. A further and pronounced problem is to find the most suitable points of attachment in the wall, especially in connection with rebuilding and alterations, where existing walls to a high extent may exhibit varying bearing capacities and structures. Available are also devices equipped with skids fitted into rails on the rear side of skirting profiles. Such devices give, however, a poor flexibility with regard to adjustments of the number of skids most suitable to the bearing capacity and structure of the wall. The entire amount of skids must be fitted in the skirting profile prior to the fixation of this and can neither, if necessary, be supplemented with additional skids, nor can unnecessary skids be removed without an unrigging of the entire skirting profile. Arrangements like these furthermore give a comparatively large distance between the wall and the mounted wall-tiles, wallboards or the like, thereby reducing the inner area of the room.
According to the present invention above disadvantages are overcome and a process for installing and mounting of a carrying skirting profile for wall-tiles, wallboards•and the like is accomplished.
The process iε characterized in the use of a skirting profile equipped with an inner longitudinal rail in which skids are fitted. The skids are at the bottom provided with a forwards pointed edge or forwards pointed pins and at the top provided with one or more bevelled longitudinal cutouts. The skids are from the front fitted in the profile by folding the edge or pins into the rail which folding engage them with the profile. The skids are thereafter temporarily fixed in the wall by means of screws, nails or the like, which initially not are fully secured. The skirting profile is optionally horizontally levelled by pushing the skids in either direction along the rail of the skirting profile. Two or more skids can be applied.
When the skirting profile is exactly horizontally levelled, the skids are permanently secured in the wall by means of screws, nails or the like and work thereby as suspension devices for the profile. The skirting profile can, alternatively, when horizontally levelled by using the skids as above, per se be directly secured in the wall by means of through going screws, nails or the like. The skids are thereafter unrigged and used for the following profiles. Combinations of the two methods are also possible. The skirting profile is suitably provided with an upwards pointed edge or upwards pointed pins intended to correspond with a channel or slots located in the base of the wall-tiles, wallboards or the like. The skids are suitably provided with one or more holes for permanent securing.
The arrangement of folding the skids from the front into position in the skirting profile makes it easy to adjust the number of skids necessary with regard to the bearing capacity and structure of the wall. t
The invention will be explained further in connection with enclosed drawings, there
- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of one embodiment of a skirting profile according to the invention equipped with two skids.
- Figure 2 shows from the front the same skirting profile as figure 1 with four skids fitted.
- Figure 3 shows a side projection of the same embodiment of the skid as figures 1 and 2.
- Figure 4 shows in a side projection an explanatory sketch of the folding of skids into the rail of a skirting profile.
- Figure 5 shows a side projection of a skirting profile installed on a wall and carrying a mounted wall-tile. The skids have here been used as auxiliary tools for the levelling of the skirting profile and have thereafter been unrigged. The skirting profile has been secured with screws through the profile.
Figure 1 shows a skirting profile 1 provided with an inner forwards pointed rail 2 in which two skids 3 have from the * front been fitted. Said skids 3 are at the bottom provided with a forwards pointed edge 4 and at the top provided with one bevelled longitudinal cutout 6. The edge 4 of the skids
3 is folded into the skirting profile 1 and the edge 4 is
thereby engaged with the rail 2 in the skirting profile 1 and works thus as a suspension device for the skirting profile 1. The skirting profile 1 is initially fixed" but not fully secured by means of screws, nails or the like 5 (fig. 1) applied in the bevelled longitudinal cutout 6 of skid 3 first rigged (fig. 1, 2). Thereafter is the second skid 3 applied in the same way. The two skids 3 are rigged with as far a distance from each other as possible. The skirting profile 1 is thereafter exactly horizontally levelled by pushing the skids 3 in either direction along the rail 2 and hence along the bevelled longitudinal cutouts. Stop screws, nails or the like 7 (fig. 1) are then if necessary applied through the holes (12) of the skids (3) or directly through the skirting profile (1) . Additional skids 3 can now be rigged between the two first ones and in an amount suitable to the bearing capacity and structure of the wall 8 (fig. 5) . The skirting profile 1 can also be directly secured in the wall 8 by means of for instance stop screws, nails or the like 7. The latter process means that the skids 3 are used as auxiliary tools for the horizontal levelling of the skirting profile 1 prior to securing this in the wall 8. When the skirting profile 1 is levelled and secured in the wall 8, the skids 3 are unrigged and used to install and level next skirting profile 1 and so on.
The present invention is not limited to above embodiment examples, as these can be varied within the scoop of the invention. The skirting profile as well as the skids can, furthermore, vary with regard to appearance.
