Abstract

Procédé catalytique amélioré permettant la conversion d'hydrocarbures lourds (habituellement mais pas nécessairement en présence de nickel et de vanadium sur le catalyseur et dans la charge) afin de produire des fractions de masse moléculaire plus légère. On additionne du manganèse présentant des propriétés paramagnétiques de manière qu'il s'accumule progressivement sur le catalyseur ayant subi un vieillissement, et de sorte qu'il augmente la séparation magnétique du catalyseur ayant vieilli, afin d'augmenter l'activité et d'améliorer la sélectivité du catalyseur restant, lequel est recyclé. Le manganèse fait office de 'crochet magnétique' afin de séparer des particules catalytiques contenant des métaux supérieurs, plus magnétiques, plus vieilles, moins actives catalytiquement et moins sélectives, de fractions catalytiques moins actives magnétiquement, contenant des métaux inférieurs, plus actives et sélectives catalytiquement, lesquelles sont ensuite recyclées dans l'unité.
