Abstract

La présente invention se rapporte à un support de genou (10) qui comprend une partie de support supérieure et une partie de support inférieure (11, 12) fixées aux côtés médian et latéral de l'articulation du genou par des charnières verrouillables à centre libre. La charnière à centre libre comprend un centre de rotation libre qui permet le déplacement et la rotation simultanés du bras de charnière supérieur (13) par rapport au bras de charnière inférieur (14). La charnière à centre libre peut en outre comprendre un mécanisme de verrouillage composé d'une cheville (23) située sur le bras de charnière supérieur (14) et d'un crochet (26) situé sur le bras de charnière inférieur (14) qui peuvent être poussés de manière à entrer en prise afin d'empêcher toute rotation additionnelle de la charnière lorsque l'on souhaite éviter une hyperextension du genou de l'utilisateur. Une paire de lanières de tension (18, 19) peuvent être attachées, en passant par l'arrière du genou de l'utilisateur, de la partie de support supérieure (11) à la partie de support inférieure (12), et leur longueur peut être réglée de manière que l'extension du genou tend à produire une tension dans les lanières (18, 19), ce qui sert à tirer les parties de support supérieure et inférieure (11, 12) l'une vers l'autre. Le mouvement des parties de support (11, 12) l'une vers l'autre sert à placer le crochet (26) et la cheville (23) du mécanisme de verrouillage dans une position correcte pour entrer en prise réciproque et verrouiller la charnière de manière à empêcher toute rotation d'extension additionnelle. Si nécessaire, le bras de charnière supérieur (13) peut être fixé à la partie de support supérieure (11) d'une manière permettant un mouvement coulissant libre entre eux afin de compenser les forces agissant sur le support (10) et dues au mouvement de la charnière alors qu'elle suit la rotation du genou de l'utilisateur.
