Abstract

A sample case (2) for display objects, in particular items of jewellery and watches, forms part of a sample case system which includes, in addition to the sample case, display drawers (3) on which the display objects are stored. Description

 Sample case for presentation objects

The invention relates to a sample case for presentation objects, in particular jewelry and watches. It has a body which consists of a lower part and a cover part hinged to the lower part, the cover and the lower part each having a bottom and a continuous circumferential side wall.

Presentation shops are generally used to present high-quality presentation objects, in particular jewelry, in a visually appealing form to prospective buyers. In the following, for the sake of simplicity, only the presentation of jewelry will be referred to. However, the invention also relates to other applications with similar requirements. The presentation shops usually have a flat, rectangular shape with a raised edge surrounding the actual presentation area. The presentation area is adapted to the respective application, for example with webs in several fields (for example for bracelets, pendants, bracelets) suitably divided or provided with ring receptacles for rings. Matching presentation cushions (hereinafter referred to as "jewelry cushions") are offered for the stores, on which the pieces of jewelry are attached and which in turn are inserted into the stores.

Jewelry stores are also used by sales travelers in the jewelry industry. For the transport of the stores, the sample cases described at the outset are offered, which are specially matched to the respective associated stores and form a sample case system with them.

In order to position the drawers in the sample case in a space-saving and stationary manner and on the other hand to enable easy removal, considerable structural efforts are being made. In particular, the usual sample cases usually have hinged side walls in the lower part and / or in the cover part. This complex construction complicates handling, increases the manufacturing costs and requires a considerable weight of the case.

Occasionally, sample cases are also offered with continuously surrounding side walls of the lower part and the lid part. The drawers are positioned horizontally, ie in such a way that their presentation surface runs parallel to the bottom of the lower part. In the opened case only the top drawer is visible and the individual drawers have to be removed with great difficulty. In order to provide a sample case of the type mentioned at the beginning with improved handling properties, the combination of the following measures is proposed:

The clear height of the interior, which is determined by the height of the side walls of the lower part and cover part, is matched to one of the surface dimensions of the drawers, so that they can be placed in the case perpendicular to the bottom surface of the lower part.

The front side wall of the cover part opposite the hinge is at least about half as high as the front side wall of the lower part.

In the lower part, a spacer is provided on the inside on the front side wall, by means of which the presentation drawers are held at such a distance from the front wall that they do not protrude into the line of movement of the lower edge of the front side wall of the cover part.

The case according to the invention is characterized by a simple structure. The relatively high edge of the lid part enables good stability with a relatively low material thickness. This enables a light construction. One of the side edges of all jewelry stores is visible. It expediently bears a label so that the content can be seen at a glance.

The following measures represent preferred configurations of the sample case described above. In addition, however, they also have independent significance for sample cases for the transport of jewelry and watches, which (to this extent, in agreement with the sample case described above) are light in weight and one have an angular shape. These two properties are obviously very advantageous for such sample cases because they significantly reduce the proportion of the transport container (which in practice accounts for the vast majority of the weight and volume transported). However, the reduction in material thickness associated with the reduction in weight and the very unfavorable shape of the corners from a stability point of view result in strength problems which are eliminated by the following measures.

The corners of the case body are provided with corner butt caps in a manner known per se. Their effect is significantly improved if the radius of curvature of their corners is smaller than the radius of curvature of the corners of the case body, so that a cavity is present between the corners of the case body and the corners of the corner protective caps.

The sample case is provided with a protective cover that is specially adapted to its properties and dimensions, but is removable, the corners of which have corner padding made of a shock-absorbing flat material, in particular of a relatively high density foam material.

Both measures can achieve a substantial improvement in the relation of weight on the one hand and stability on the other. The corner protection caps increase the weight only insignificantly, but allow the material strength of the case body to be significantly reduced with the same stability. The protective cover with corner padding provides such effective protection against the high impact stresses that are common, especially when traveling by air, that the case including protective cover is considerably lighter than a conventional suitcase Stability. The detachability of the protective cover leads to a further weight reduction if the additional shock resistance is not required.

The sample case system 1 shown in the figures consists of a sample case 2, matching jewelry store 3 and possibly a protective cover (FIG. 6). The jewelry stores differ in the design and division of their presentation area 4 and can also have a different thickness or edge thickness. However, their area dimensions, ie the width b and length 1 are preferably the same for all shops and each if necessary, matched to the dimensions of the interior of the pattern case 2 so that it is optimally filled.

The body 5 of the sample case 2 is essentially cuboid and consists of a lower part 6 and a cover part 7, which are connected to one another via a hinge 8. In the open position shown, the cover part 7 is held by a holding mechanism 9.

Both the lower part 6 and the cover part 7 have continuous side walls 6b, 6c, 6d, 6e and 7b, 7c, 7d, 7e, which preferably run perpendicular to the respective bottom 6a, 7a. The upper edge of the side walls is surrounded in each case by a frame 6f, 7f, the sides of the frames 6b, 7b facing each other being complementarily profiled in order to ensure that the case is closed tightly.

A carrying handle 11 and locks 12 are provided on the front side wall 6b of the lower part 6 opposite the hinge 8. Locking parts 14 for the locks 12 are located on the front side wall 7b of the cover part 7.

In this respect, the sample case 2 is essentially designed like a conventional travel case. The body is preferably made of drawn plastic and, as shown, the case as a whole is designed as a shell case. This not only enables rational production according to the same methods as are used in the manufacture of travel cases. Rather, an essential advantage of the similar external appearance is increased security against theft. A special feature compared to the usual suitcase format is that the corners 15 of the body 5 have a relatively small radius of curvature of preferably less than 35 mm, in particular less than 25 mm.

Further special features which, despite the similarity to a travel suitcase, give the sample suitcase according to the invention ideal properties for practical use can be seen more clearly in FIG. 2.

The clear height h is matched to a surface dimension 1 of the shutters 3 so that they can be set up perpendicular to the bottom surface 6a of the lower part 6 in the case. In the case shown, the front side wall 7b of the cover part 7 is approximately as high as the front side wall 6b of the lower part 6. At least the side wall 7b should be approximately half the height of the side wall 6b. As a result, the drawers 3 are easily accessible in the open position of the case shown in FIG. 1. Above all, however, good structural stability is achieved by the high side walls of both parts forming the body. The material of the body 2 can therefore be relatively thin and therefore light.

In the lower part 6, a spacer 18 is provided on the inside on the front side wall 6b, by means of which the presentation shelves 3 located in the interior of the case 2 are held at a distance A from the front wall 6b, 7b that they do not enter the Line of movement L of the lower edge 19 of the front side wall 7b of the cover part 7 protrude.

Preferably, as can be seen in FIG. 3, the spacer 18 also serves as a holder for auxiliary devices. Shafts of sales travelers, for example order books 20 or writing instruments 21. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the height h of the sample case 2 is matched to the longer surface dimension 1 of the jewelry store 3. At the same time, the interior width B of the case corresponds to three times the width b of the jewelry store, so that three stacks of jewelry stores can be placed in the case and optimally fill its interior. However, it may also be appropriate to match the height h of the case to the smaller area dimension (width b) of the jewelry store, in which case the interior width B of the case is a multiple of the larger dimension 1 of the jewelry store. Generally speaking, the case is preferably dimensioned such that the height h corresponds to one surface dimension of the shop 3, while the interior width B corresponds to a multiple of the other surface dimension of the shop.

Preferably, as shown in FIG. 1, the side walls 6c, 6d of the lower part 6 adjoining the front side wall 6b are also provided on the inside with spacers 23, which preferably consist of fine-pored, sufficiently rigid foam material. They keep the drawers at a short distance from the side walls 6c, 6d in order to enable free movement of the holding mechanism 9 and easy closing of the cover part 7.

In the modified embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the corner 15 of the body 5 is provided with a corner protection cap 25. As in the sectional view 5, the corner 26 of the corner protection cap 25 has a smaller radius of curvature than the corner 15 of the body 5. As a result, a cavity 27 is present between the corners 15, 26. This design leads to an extremely effective protection of the corners of the case with relatively light and thin corner protection caps.

The case shown in FIG. 6 is encased in a protective cover 29, which expediently consists of a light, water-resistant coated fabric, for example made of polyamide, and can be opened with a zip fastener 28 so that it can be removed overall.

The corners 30 of the protective cover 29 have corner padding 31 with a cushion layer 32 made of a shock-absorbing flat material. A foam material of relatively high density is particularly suitable. The cushion layer 32 is expediently provided with a textile covering 33 and sewn inside the protective cover 29 in the area of the corners 30.

For weight reasons, the corner padding 31 should be limited to the area of the corners 30 and not the entire protective cover 29 should be padded. However, it should extend into all surfaces adjacent to the corners 30. In addition, it has proven to be very advantageous if the corner padding 31 also covers the suitcase locks 12.

A belt 35 in signal color not only serves as a safety lock for the case, but above all as an indication of its fragile contents.
