Definitions
- the invention relates to a quick coupling for surgical instruments.
- Surgical instruments of all kinds for example spatulas, retractors etc.
- Surgical instruments of all kinds for example spatulas, retractors etc.
- Such a connection of the surgical instrument with the holder usually arranged in the operating area is complicated since screw connections have to be opened and closed each time.
- a quick coupling for surgical instruments which is characterized by an insertion pin with at least one recess in its peripheral surface, by a housing with an insertion opening for the insertion pin, with at least one in the wall of the housing radially displaceable and axially immovable locking body, which is aligned with the recess when the insertion pin is inserted, and by a slidably mounted on the housing between two end positions, which rests in a first end position on the locking body and the latter pushes inward beyond the inner wall of the insertion opening, but in the second opens the way for the locking body so that it can be displaced radially outward so that it no longer plunges into the insertion opening.
- this quick coupling namely the plug-in pin on the one hand and the housing with the plug-in opening on the other hand can optionally be arranged on a surgical instrument or on a holding instrument, an extension, etc.
- the insertion pin can be fixed in the insertion opening by the locking body by pushing it radially inwards into the recess. This is done with With the help of the slide mounted on the housing, which prevents the locking body from escaping from the recess after displacement and thus fixes the insertion pin in the insertion opening until the slide is moved again on the housing into the position releasing the locking body. In this way, a detachable connection can be established in a simple manner by inserting and moving the slider, with tedious screwing being dispensed with.
- the slider has an inclined sliding surface which bears against the locking element, so that the locking element is displaced inwards when the slider is moved.
- a retaining element is arranged in a longitudinally displaceable manner in the insertion opening, which in a first position rests on the inside of the locking element and presses it radially outward until it no longer plunges into the insertion opening in which second, more deeply inserted position releases the locking element, however, and allows the locking body to be immersed in the insertion opening.
- the retaining element is preferably displaced into the first end position by a spring. When inserted, the insertion pin pushes the retaining element deeper into the housing against the action of the spring until the locking element is released and is now pressed inwards by the likewise spring-loaded slide.
- the retaining element is thus arranged in the recess of the insertion pin. If the external slide is moved against the action of the spring, the plug-in pin can be pulled out again, the locking element being pressed radially outward and being fixed in this position by the retaining element following the spring-loaded pin following the plug-in pin. The locking element pressed outward simultaneously fixes the slide in its second end position against the action of the spring acting on the slide.
- the retaining element is sleeve-shaped and rests on an annular shoulder of the same when the insertion pin is inserted. A smooth transition from the outer surface of the insertion pin to the outer surface of the retaining element then results for the locking element.
- the plug-in pin has a centering tip which plunges into the sleeve-shaped retaining element. This facilitates the insertion of the insertion pin into the insertion opening.
- the locking element is preferably a ball which is arranged in a through opening of the housing and has a diameter which is greater than the wall thickness of the housing.
- the slide and the retaining element are preferably designed to be rotationally symmetrical with respect to their longitudinal axis, while in a preferred embodiment the recess is a circumferential annular groove.
- the insertion pin carries radially protruding projections which plunge into circumferential grooves of the housing which are parallel to the axis and thus act as a rotation lock.
- a plug-in pin pushed in in this way is secured in the housing both in the axial direction and against rotation; this connection can only be released again by pulling the plug-in pin out by moving the external slide against the spring action acting thereon.
- FIG. 1 a side view of a quick-coupling intermediate piece cut in the longitudinal direction with a plug-in pin and plug-in opening without a plug-in pin in the plug-in opening
- FIG. 2 a view similar to FIG. 1 with a plug pin in the insertion opening.
- the invention is explained here with the aid of an adapter plug which has both a plug-in pin and a plug-in opening.
- the invention could also be used directly on holding devices or instruments, for example the insertion pin in the embodiment according to FIG. 1 could be replaced by the handle of a surgical instrument or the holding arm of a holding device, in the same way the insertion opening on a surgical device Instrument or be arranged on a holding device.
- the intermediate piece shown in the drawing comprises a plug-in pin 1 with a tapered centering tip 2 and a beveled ring shoulder 3 adjoining the centering tip 2 circumferential annular groove 5 is arranged, which is of circular arc shape in cross section.
- a plug-in pin 1 with a tapered centering tip 2 and a beveled ring shoulder 3 adjoining the centering tip 2 circumferential annular groove 5 is arranged, which is of circular arc shape in cross section.
- this carries pins 6 which project radially on the diametrically opposite side.
- this plug-in pin could be part of a surgical instrument, a holder etc. in the manner described, in the illustrated example of an adapter plug it merges into an internal threaded ring 7 which opens an essentially sleeve-shaped housing 8 is screwed on.
- This housing 8 has a stepped through bore 9 and has on its circumference an annular shoulder 10 against which the internal threaded ring 7 strikes.
- a plunger 11 is arranged to be freely displaceable in the longitudinal direction .
- the stamp 11 carries an extension 14 projecting into the part of the through bore 9 with a smaller inner diameter, into which a central blind bore 15 is made from the side facing away from the stamp 11.
- the retaining element When the plunger 11 rests on the step 12, that is, when the coil spring 13 is relaxed, the retaining element is in its first end position and covers the wall openings 17 on the inside (FIG. 1), so that the spherical locking elements 16 on it are prevented from entering the inside of the through hole 9.
- the diameter of the spherical locking elements 16 is greater than the thickness of the wall of the housing 8, that is to say in this position of the retaining element spherical locking elements 16 in the manner shown in Figure 1 outwards over the circumference of the wall of the housing 8.
- a likewise sleeve-shaped slide 18 surrounding the housing 8 is freely displaceably mounted. Its displacement movement is limited on the one hand by a stop ring 20 which is pushed onto the end of the housing 8 and fixed there by means of a radial screw 19, and on the other hand by striking a step 21 of the slide 18 on the step also present on the outside of the housing 12.
- the slide 18 surrounds the housing 8 in its part near the housing end at a distance and thus forms an annular space 22 between itself and the housing, in which a helical spring 23 surrounding the housing 8 is located. This is supported on the one hand on the slide 18 and on the other hand on the stop ring 20 and thus acts on the slide 18 with a force displacing it in the direction of the step 12.
- the housing 8 has in its wall a multiplicity of slots 27 which are opposite one another in pairs and which run axially parallel and open towards the end and which receive the pins 6 projecting radially from the insertion pins.
- the retaining element consisting of the punch 11 and extension 14 is displaced by the helical spring 13 in the manner shown in FIG. 1 against the step 12.
- the wall openings 17 are covered by the extension 14 on the inside, that is to say the spherical locking elements 16 are pushed radially outward and lie there against the oblique contact surface 25 of the slide 18.
- this is held in its position near the stop ring, in which the helical spring 23 is compressed.
- the retaining element consisting of stamp and extension, which continues to cover the wall openings 17 when the plug-in pin is pulled out, so that there is no longer any possibility for the locking elements exists to dive into the interior of the opening.
- the spherical locking elements projecting outward beyond the wall of the housing 8 also hold the slider 18 in its position close to the stop ring, that is to say the user can already let go of the slider 18 when he pulls the insertion pin out of the housing 8 has started, since at this point in time the slide 18 remains in the position close to the stop ring and is locked there until the plug-in pin is fully inserted again.
