Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de refroidissement, de séparation, de granulation, de façonnage, d'agglomération et d'enrobage de particules collantes chaudes, notamment celles en polymères élastomères, consistant à introduire un courant de gaz contenant les particules de polymère collantes dans un élément de corps (12) doté d'une paroi périphérique intérieure (14) et d'une paroi périphérique extérieure (16) laquelle est espacée de ladite paroi intérieure de manière à former un espace annulaire entre elles deux. On introduit un milieu de transfert de chaleur, tel qu'un fluide de refroidissement, dans l'espace annulaire. On introduit le courant de gaz-particules dans le corps de manière tangentielle et à une vitesse élevée de sorte que les particules viennent au contact de la paroi intérieure périphérique dudit corps et sont ainsi refroidies. L'action des particules heurtant la paroi intérieure sert à transformer en boulettes lesdites particules. Ledit corps peut se composer d'une pluralité de sections, ou de zones, dans lesquelles la paroi intérieure de chaque zone peut être maintenue à une température spécifiée constante. Des agents agglomérants ainsi que des matières d'enrobage peuvent être introduits directement dans ledit corps, ou à l'aide du courant d'entrée, de sorte que l'on peut agglomérer les particules et/ou les enrober dans la zone de température spécifiée. De plus, ledit corps peut comporter un tube (52) de sortie de gaz destiné à éliminer le gaz dudit corps, afin de séparer les particules du courant gazeux d'entrée.
