Abstract

A coupling for textile ducts consists of a specially shaped ring (1) having an opening (5) through which a runner (3) with a core (2) is inserted for the purpose of connecting the two textile ducts (4) together.

Description

DESCRIPTION
COUPLING FOR TEXTILE DUCTS
The invention relates to the connection of ducts such as ventilation ducts for use in tunnelling work and consists of a specially shaped ring and a runner with incorporated core, the runner being sewn to the textile duct.
Many factors are particular to construction and tunnelling work such as environment, costs etc., and without going into these factors in detail, one can say that they are precisely the reason why the invention was developed.
A design feature of the coupling is that it must be easy to handle under the most severe conditions, with varying temperatures and degrees of moisture. There are no narrow tolerances to comply with and the connection is effected in a few simple movements.
What characterizes the invention is that, compared with the connection methods in use today, it is considerably easier to handle on site. This is due to the fact that the runner which is attached to the textile duct is by means of the core inserted into a suitable opening in the ring, which has one such opening on either side, and the ring is then pulled over the joint. The connection is effected in one rotation.
In accordance to the invention the coupling consists of a locking ring (1), a runner (3) with a core (2), and the runner is attached to the textile duct (4). In the connection ring an opening (5) is provided, which is also illustrated on the left half of figure 2.

Claims

1. Coupling for textile ducts c h a r a c t e r i ¬ z e in that it has a specially shaped ring (1 ) in which is inserted a runner (3) comprising a core (2), said runner being attached to the textile duct (4) and where said runner with its core is inserted into said ring through an opening (5).
2. Coupling for textile ducts according to claim 1 c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the shape of said ring (1 ) and its smooth surface.
3. Coupling for textile ducts according to claims 1-2 c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that said ring has an opening for the insertion of said runner with core.
4. Coupling for textile ducts according to claims 1-3 c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that said runner has a smooth surface.
5. Coupling for textile ducts according to claims 1-4 c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that said core is rigid enough to feed said runner through said opening and flexible enough to bend to the shape of said ring.
