  • US Patent No. 4230924 discloses the wrapping of a food product in a material which also has separated islands of metallization.
  • the metallic coatings are very thin, and are stated to absorb some microwave energy which is converted into heat. Also, it is stated that electric currents are transmitted through the substrate between adjacent islands, so resistively heating the substrate. Whatever the heating mechanism, it is clear that the gaps between adjacent islands should be very small and carefully controlled.

Abstract

Des emballages pour produits alimentaires comprennent un dispositif de chauffage, dans lequel peut être inclue la base (2) de l'emballage.
