Les systèmes connus ont en commun l'utilisation d'une rallonge fixée sur la tête six pans du boulon. L'extrémité de la rallonge est personnalisée, par exemple par des trous disposés d'une façon particulière et unique pour chaque détenteur, celui-ci possédant un écrou correspondant muni de goupilles pouvant s'engager dans les trous de la rallonge. Cette rallonge forme une saillie importante sur la roue et crée un ballourd. Le boulon représenté est destiné à fixer une roue de véhicule automobile ou de remorque. Comme les boulons conventionnels de ce type, il présente une partie cylindrique partiellement filetée 1 suivie d'une partie tronconique 2. En lieu et place de la tête six pans usuelle, cet écrou est muni d'une tète cylindrique 3 munie de trois cannelures semi-cylindriques réparties angulairement de façon irrégulière. Sur et autour de cette tète cylindrique cannelée 3 et montée librement, c'est-à-dire avec un léger jeu, une douille h dont la paroi intérieure est cylindrique et munie de trois goupilles cylindriques 5, 6 et 7 logées et soudées dans des cannelures semi-cylindriques ménagées dans la paroi intérieure de la douille 4 et situées en face des cannelures de la tête 3, de telle sorte que les goupilles 5, 6 et 7 sont engagées dans les cannelures de la tête 3 , de telle sorte que la tête 3 et la douille 4 sont étroitement solidaires en rotation.
