Definitions
- the invention relates to a skin care product which can be used in the different areas of skin care together with the known carrier, additive, fragrance, preservative and optionally protective and coloring agents which are customary for this.
- the skin care product according to the invention can therefore be used as a bath product, i.e. as a cream bath, shower bath (gel), body care milk, also in the form of creams, i.e. as a face cream, night cream, face pack (mask), also as sunscreen such as sun milk, sunscreen foam, after-sun cream and also as lip gloss or eyeshadow, but numerous other manifestations are conceivable in addition to the forms listed here.
- the different skin care products have the non-secondary task of nourishing and protecting the skin, restoring its elasticity and giving it its natural condition. This is the main purpose for cream products, and a complementary function for bathing products or sunscreens.
- human skin has a protective film which is in the form of a suspension or an emulsion.
- This protective film has a pH of 4.5-5.5, and is therefore also called the protective acid mantle of the skin. It consists of sebum, water, various amino acids, proteins and minerals. When cleaning the skin, this protective coat can be damaged and dry out, so it must be returned to its natural state.
- the preparations produced to nourish the skin, to preserve or restore its natural state contain, as active ingredients, extracts of vegetable or animal origin, which are rich in proteins and amino acids and therefore exert an advantageous influence on the skin.
- the object of the invention is to meet this real need satisfy and accordingly to create a novel skin care product and a process for its preparation.
- the invention is based on the knowledge that, among the natural active ingredients, all those that make it possible to achieve the stated goal are contained in the blood due to its protein and amino acid composition.
- the use of the hat in its natural form for cosmetic purposes is hampered by numerous circumstances, including its tendency to clot and spoil, its color, etc.
- the industrial use of blood from slaughterhouses is well known. It is treated with an anticoagulator and then separated into thick blood and blood plasma in the separator.
- the blood plasma is mainly used in the food industry. It mainly contains globulins, lipoproteins and fibrinogen as protein groups. In its natural form, the blood plasma seems unsuitable for use as an active ingredient due to its high water content and its perishability.
- a blood plasma extract which can be used according to the invention as an active ingredient for skin care products can be obtained from blood plasma by drying.
- the blood plasma extract contains a relatively large amount of salt, since the salt concentration increases with drying and concentration as the water emerges.
- the composition of the blood plasma, the dried blood plasma and the content of essential amino acids in the blood plasma are given below (Grant, R.A .: Applied protein chemistry, Applied Sei. Publishers, Ltd., London, 1980).
- the protein content of the dried blood plasma is therefore 71.9% and that of the blood plasma is only 7.9%. This almost tenfold amount results from the considerable reduction in the water content.
- the 16.5% salt contained in the dried blood plasma is an obstacle for most cosmetic applications, primarily the salts originating from the anticoagulator pose a danger. These are different phosphates that coagulate the proteins on the surface of the skin.
- the high salt content has a dehydrating effect, dries out the skin and can also irritate it.
- the blood plasma extract can therefore only be used in small quantities for cosmetic purposes. The thickening of the blood plasma, however, cannot be done only by drying.
- ultrafiltration With the technology referred to in the industry as ultrafiltration, particles with a molecular weight of only 16000-18000 can be separated from the liquid phase.
- the molar mass of the valuable proteins and amino acids contained in the blood plasma is above this range, and they can therefore be separated from the liquid phase by ultrafiltration.
- Ultrafiltration not only removes the liquid, but also the salts dissolved in it, ie the extract has a much lower salt content.
- the blood plasma thickened by ultrafiltration only has a salt content of about 4.1%, of which only about 2.5% are residues originating from the anticoagulator. This amount of salt can already be described as negligible.
- the invention relates to a skin care product which can be used in different areas of skin care and which contains carriers, additives, fragrances and other substances which are characteristic of these areas.
- the skin care agent according to the invention contains, as an active ingredient, blood plasma extract obtained from slaughterhouse blood in an amount of at least 0.3% by mass and at most 6% by mass.
- the advantages of the protein components contained in the blood plasma also compensate for the possible disadvantages of the salt content contained in the dried blood plasma extract.
- Much more favorable results are achieved, however, if the salt concentration in the blood plasma extract is at most 6%, in particular below 4.2%. This concentration can only be achieved by ultrafiltration. If the blood plasma extract is not broken down into fractions, it retains its original composition and the residues from the anticoagulant added to the slaughterhouse blood account for a maximum of 60% of the permissible salt content.
- the protein and amino acid composition of the blood plasma extract corresponds to that of the blood plasma and the protein concentration in the extract is at least 60%.
- serum albumin and serum globulins in particular have the property of adding water tie; they are adsorbed on the skin surface and protect the skin from drying out, have a hydrating effect.
- the gamma globulin which can only be found in the blood plasma, is known to be the antidote to acute diseases, it increases the resistance of the organism.
- the lipoproteins are suitable for the stabilization of water / oil systems and their presence in the skin care products which represent emulsion systems has a stabilizing effect.
- the lipoproteins also contain fat on their surface, so they supplement the fat content of the skin.
- the amino acid composition of the fibrinogen contained in the plasma is more favorable compared to that of other biologically active compounds (collagen, elastin).
- the threonine content of the fibrinogen is three and six times as high, and the leucine and isoleucine content is about three times that of the collagen.
- Fibrinogen contains five times as much tyrosine and more than twice as much lysine as collagen, and its lysine content is sixteen times that of elastin.
- the arginine content of the blood plasma is six times that of the elastin. Tryptophan is not found at all in collagen and elastin, but in significant amounts in fibrinogen.
- Collagen contains no cystine, and elastin contains only one seventh of the cystine content of fibrinogen.
- the other important sulfur-containing amino acid, methionine is only present in trace amounts in elastin, and collagen also contains only a quarter of the methionine content of fibrinogen.
- Collagen and elastin are considered to be extremely advantageous as active ingredients in skin care products.
- the comparative figures given therefore show some of the advantages that result from the use of blood plasma.
