Definitions
- This unit can also be used to add to the motor a controlled quantity of an alternative fuel, added in conjunction with, or instead of, water, together with air, In such a case the unit is performing the function of a secondary carbur ettor,
- the system comprises a water bag (ref, fig. (1) on diagram) or joined water bags, connected by a narrow" apperture pipe (2) to an adjustable valve (3), which allows regulation of the flow of water, or other fuel, to enable fine tuning to suit a particular size or type of motor or climatic conditions.
- This valve (3) also allows entry of air into the system in such a way that it causes the water to break down into fine particles.
- This valve is connected to a self-ad usting metering device ( ) which automatically regulates the flow of water air mist to the motor.
- This automatic metering valve which is connected by a pipe (5) to any existing vacuum line entering at or near the centre of the inlet manifold (6) (for example the sump scavenger vacuum line or the power brake vacuum line) or directly to the inlet manifold, allows the water air mixture to be sucked into the inlet manifold in the desired quantities.
- the automatic metering valve is operated by vacuum through a pipe (7) connected to the vacuum line (8) running between the carbur ettor and the automatic advance and retard mechanism (9).
- the vacuum to operate the valve is obtained from any suitable source connected at or near the centre of the inlet manifold.
- This automatic metering valve is designed so that, in the case of a motor employing a carbur ettor system,, when there is no vacuum applied to the diaphragm control (10) the valve (11) " closes, thus allowing no water air mixture to enter the inlet manifold. As the work load on the motor increases so the vacuum increases and the valve opens to allow water air mist to be sucked through the connecting pipe into the inlet manifold.
- the metering valve operates in reverse so that as the vacuum increases the valve closes giving the same result of allowing most water air mixture to enter the inlet manifold when there Is maximum load on the motor.

Abstract
Device for adding an air-liquid mixture to the air or fuel-air charge for an internal combustion engine, comprising a pipe (5) open to the atmosphere at one end and connected to the orifice intake of the engine at the other end so that the vacuum in the intake manifold (6) causes a flow of air to flow through the pipe (5). An adjustable valve (3) measures the flow of liquid from a reservoir (1) to an outlet in the pipe so that the air flowing past the outlet causes the liquid to separate outgoing and mixing with the air stream. A vacuum-sensitive valve (4) in the manifold is arranged in the line (5) to regulate the flow of the air-liquid mixture towards the engine intake port so that the flow increases as a function increased engine load.
