Dadurch steht die oberste Tabakschicht im Pfeifenkopf in intensiver Berührung mit der dem Brenner entströmenden Flainme, 'so daß eine starke Glut erzeugt werden kann, die ausreicht, um den Ta¬ bak auf Dauer am Glimmen zu erhalten. Sollte trotz¬ dem die Glut erlöschen, weil der Raucher nicht gleichmäßig genug Luft durch den Tabak .gesaugt hat, kann durch neuerliche Betätigung des Brenners eine neue Glut erzeugt werden, ohne daß die Pfeife zu diesem Zwecke aus dem Mund genommen werden muß. Das notwendige Stopfen der Pfeife kann während der Phasen vorgenommen werden, während der keine Glut sich im Pfeifenkopf befindet. Der einhändigen Betätigung der Pfeife stehen damit keine Hindernisse entgegen. Darü¬ ber hinaus entfällt das lästige Suchen nach dem Zube¬ hör, das herkömmlicherweise zum Pfeifenraucheπ not- wendig ist. Insbesondere erspart sich der Raucher das Mitführen von Streichhölzern oder Feuerzeugen. Dieser wird optimal zum Glimmen gebracht, ohne daß ein Teil der Flamme am Tabak vorbei- gerichtet ist. Schließlich kann durch vorsichtige Be¬ tätigung des Verschlußorgans erreicht werden, daß der Aufwand an zündbarer Substanz so gering wie möglich ge¬ halten wird.
