Abstract

Temperature sensitive or ion sensitive binder composition comprising at least one temperature sensitive or ion sensitive polymeric material, wherein (a9 the binder composition is insoluble in water containing more than about 0.5 percent percent weight of monovalent ions or water containing a multivalent ion concentration greater than about 200 parts per million multivalent ions and is soluble in water containing less than about 0.5 percent by weight of monovalent ions or water containing a multivalent ion concentration, or the binder composition is insoluble in water that has a temperature of more than about 30 ° C, and is soluble in water that has a temperature of less than about 25 ° C. The binder composition, characterized in that at least one temperature sensitive or ion sensitive polymeric material comprises polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl methyl ester, hydroxypropyl cellulose sa, methyl hydroxypropyl cellulose or a combination thereof. Also included is a water dispersible nonwoven fabric containing the ion sensitive or temperature sensitive binder material, which is useful in the manufacture of disposable personal care products with water discharge. Also provided is a process for making water dispersible nonwoven fabrics.
