To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, J AMES FRANCIS FERRY, a citizen of the United States, and aeresident of Leadville, in the county of Lake and State of Colorado, have invented a new and Improved Cooking Utensil, of which the following .is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in casings for holding cooking utensils,'such as kettles, frying-pans, -or the like, the object bein to provide a simple means for'conducting t e odors of the cooking food 4into the stove.
I will deeeribe e eeeleingl utensil embodying my invention and then oint out the novel features in the appended c aims.
' Reference is to behad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding arts all the figures,
Figure 1 is a sectiona elevation ofa easing, embodying my invention and showing a-kettie 'or partlyin section,`of the casing.. section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2. section showin Vthe device as adapted for a frying-paman Fig. 5 is a fragmentary view showing a modification.
Referring to the drawings, casing oany suitable metal, tom and having a cover '6. signed to receive a kettle or. Vot 7, W ch is laced over the vopening in t e stove-top 8.
Xtended inward at the bottom of the casing 5 are lus 9, onwhichthe ,cooking vessel is designe tov rest, .raising Vthe same slightly above the top of the stove, so that fumes may Fig. 3 1s a '5 designates the pass underneaththe same.. and' through the d-opening of the stove.` f
In Figs. 1', 2, and 3 have shown the lugs 9 band 10, secured lto the bottom of the casing at 'theouter side. In Fig. 5, however, I have shown a lug 11 secured directly-to the bottom of the casingy at the outer side. In either event the bottom edge of the casing will be provided with re- Speciflcation of Reissued Letters Patet.

to receive the lugs, so that the extreme bottom edge of the casin plane with the lower sidesof t e lugs, thus permitting the casing to rest snugly on the stove-top.
In Fig. 4 I havelshown a casing 12 that is in most' respects similar.V to scribed. It is, however-,much shorter, as it frying-pan 13. At one side the casing 12 has an o ning 14, through which the'handle o f the ing-pan aving claim as new and desire to-secure by Letters Patent- 1. the casing being openv at the bottom, and lugs extendedinward at the bottom'and secured to the outer side of the casing, the lower surfaces of said lufgs being on a plane with the bottom edge o the casing, substantially as specifiediv 2. In a cooking utensil, a casingmlapted to receive a cooklng vessel, acover for said casing, the casingbeing o en-'at vthe bottom and lu s extended inward yffromthe casing et the ottom, the lower surfaces-f Said lugs being in a plane with the bottomledge ofthe casing. Y. 3.' n a cooking'utensil, aca-.sing adapted to receive the coo ng vessel', said casing bemg 4open at the bottom, a cover for the casing, a
rlng secured to the outer side' ofthe casing at the bottom, and lugs extended inwardly from said rinv the bottom of the casin being provided wit recesses to receive said Iuge.`
