DESlGN FOR GLASSW'ARE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,179, dated April 4, 1876; application filed January 28, 1876. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, THOMAS C. FEARS, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Design for Glassware; and I do hereby declare the following'to he a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a footed bowl, and Fig. 2 a. nappy.
Like letters refer to like parts in each.
My design for hollow glassware, having a foot or foot and stem of glass, consists in givin g to the plain bowl portion of the article the form of a flattened sphere or oval, the lip being within the greatest diameters.
A indicates a plain howl, provided with a foot, B, the bowl A hein g drawn in above so as to preserve the elliptical form and bring the lip as within the greatest diameters of the bowl. The foot B or stem may be ornamented with facets or flutes, if desired, but the charaoteristics of the design are dependent on the form of the bowl.
Having thus described my design, I claim as my invention- The design for hollow glassware, having a. foot or foot and stem of glass as herein described, said design being produced by giving to the plain bowl portion of the article the form of a. flattened shere or oval, the lip of the bowl being within the greatest diameters of the figure.
