DESIGN FOR CONVERTIBLE CHAIRS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,1 ll, dated February 29, 1876; application ilcd January 10, 1876.

Be it known that I, CHARLES A. PERLEY, of Baldwinsville, in thecounty ot'Woreester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a Design for Chair, of which the following is a specih'cation:
The nature of this design is fully represented in the accompan yin g photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
The scat a is composed of a U shaped frame, b, extending about the back and sides ot' the horizontal seat portion, and the front of the seat is waved, as at c. The back d is composed of a U- shaped frame, e, forming the bottom land sides, and a top piece, f. Inside the U-shaped frame the back-piece is formed of different-colored woods, aud so lalso is the horizontal seat a. The top piece j' has a center crown, g, mounted on a neck, h; and each side the crown and neck are points l, inclines 2, concaved portions 3, an angled projection, 4, and a curved projection, 5, and below this irregula;l top is a bead-line, 6. The arms j con nect the back and seat.
I prefer to veneer a portion ot' the front of the back with veneer of contrasting` colors or woods, and so also the upper portions of the arms j.
I claim- 1. The design for a chair-back, consisting ot' the frame e and the top piece f, as shown and described.
2. The design for the top piece, consisting of the center crown g and portions l, 2, 3, and 4.
3. The design for a chair, consisting of the top piece f, having a crown-piece, g, and portions l 2 3 4, frame e, arms j, and seat a c, as shown and described.
