DPS-3A6 DESiGN.
R. HATQHHAN. HEATING STOVE.
UNITED STATES ROBERT HATOHMAN, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO MICHIGAN STOVE COMPANY,
OF SAME PLACE.
' DESIGN FOR HEATlNG-STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,4 86,
dated September 5, 1876; application filed August 25, 1876.
[Term of Patent 7 years} To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ItonEnT HATGHMAN, of Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented and originated a Design for a HeatingStove, of which the followin g is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying photographic illustration, making part of this specilication.
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
A represents the base-ring, built up of a succession of moldings. B is the ash-pit section, 0 the fire-pot section, and D the combustionchamber, all of which are circular in section, except at the back, where they are extended to inclose the lines. The ornamentation of the ashpit section is clearly shown in the illustration. aa a are doors in the lire-pot section, each divided into four mice panels, square, with a segment cut in at each upper corner. I) b b are doors in the combustion-chamber, each divided at the lower part into four equal arch-top mica windows, surmounted by three shield-shaped mullion-windows in the upper part of thewloor. The top and bottom edges of the doors b and the borders of the openings in the doors a are ornamented with a chainpattern, the rear extension of flue-casing being paneled oil with the same ornaments. E is the magazine-section, built up of four or more staves, surmounted by a cap, F, at whose apex is an urn, G, the handle of which is a thin vertical half-wreath, G bearin g on its top seg- Y ment the name of the stove, Garland, and
below it M. S. 00., in monogram, nickelplated. The bowl of the urn has a raised G, in Old English script. The center of each stave of the magazinesection is occupied by a raised rectangular panel, with inwardly-curved sides, with scrolls engraved in its face. Outside the panel there is a border of the same shape, formed by engraving two parallel lines, with a radial scroll ornament engraved outside of each corner. Near the edges there is a flat raised border conforming to the general outline of the inclosed ornamentation. This border is ornamented with a line of raised diamonds on its face. The cap, like the base, is built up of a succession of moldings, each one being ornamented, as shown. The edges of the rings which divide the various sections are ground and polished.
What I claim as my invention is- 1'. The design for the ash-pit section B, substantially as represented.
2. The design for the doors a of the section 0, substantially as represented and described.
3. The design for the doors b of the section D, substantially as represented and described.
4. The design for the staves of the magazinesection E, substantially as represented and described.
5. The design for the urn and wreath G G, substantially as represented and described.
6. The design for a heating-stove, substantially as represented and described.
