OTTO W. SCHAUM, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A HOOK AND RACK FOR SHEDDING MECHANISMS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,829, dated January 1, 1901.
Application filed December 6, 1900. Serial No. 883961- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OTTO W. SoHAUM, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadel phia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Design for a Hook and Rack for Shedding Mechanism; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked, thereon which form a part of this specification.
In the accompanying drawings, wherein corresponding letters of reference indicate like parts, I have fully illustrated my invention.
In said drawings, Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a hook and rack for a shedding mechanism constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the device, and Fig. 3 is a sectional View on the line a; a: in Fig. 1.
The essential feature of my design consists in two elongatedintegral members or portions, of which each is approximately alined with the other and of which the one is the hook portion, while the other is the rack portion, of the device. Said rack portion a consists of a fiat bar, one of whose edges bis plain, while the other is formed with a series of teeth 0,
being at the base-line of said teeth slightly thickened, thus producing lateral ribs or flanges d.
The hook portion 6 of the device consists of a substantially straight bar which has approximately the same thickness as the rack portion, though it is somewhat narrower than said rack portion, its upper edge and that marking the tops of the teeth 0 of the member a being approximately alined, while its lower edge is elevated slightly above that of said rack portion. From said upper edge of the bar extends a projection or spur f, which toward one end of the member presents an abrupt abutmentc while from the lower edge of the bar extends a similar projection h,which toward the other end of the member presents an abutment t'.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design forahook and rack for a shedding mechanismsubstantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 22d day of November, 1900.
OTTO IV. SOHAUM.
