The toy tugboat has as characteristic design features a body portion which is dimensioned and shaped to provide a sitting or standing area for a child or children, which can be filled with sand, water, toys and the like to promote play and which can be covered to simulate the appearance of a tugboat with hatches while covering the contents of the body portion.
