UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BERNARD SCIUIALTZ, Ol DIMOND, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A GARDEN-HOE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 31,826, dated November 14, 1899 Application filed July 10, 1899. Serial No. 723.420. Term of patent 3i years.
To all whom it HMLZ/ ammo/'11.-
Be it known that I, BERXARD Scmnuxrx, a subject of the German Emperor, residing in the town of Dimond, county of Alameda, State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Garden- IIoes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in whioh- Figure 1 is an isometric perspective view of my design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
The leading features of this design include a body curved in side elevation, as illustrated in Fig. 2, said body being narrow in front elevation at a point about midway intermediate its ends and curving outwardly at the sides for a distance both above and below the said narrow portion. From the ends of the two side curves, above the narrow portion, the sides curve inwardly gradually, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and at the upper end of the implement the two last-mentioned curves are joined by a straight edge, thus forming the part B. From the ends of the two side curves, below the said narrow portion, the side edges extend downwardly in straight lines and substantially parallel with each other, and in the lower portion of the i implement, between said parallel sides, are triangular teeth, as shown, said teeth having their ends curved in side elevation. One side of each triangle lies in the plane of the 1 body of the implement and to that side toward which the ends of the body curve, as first explained, so that the two other sides of the triangles give each tooth the appearance of being beveled upon the side away from which the body curves. The opposite-lying bevels of adjacent teeth are connected by curved, bevels in the body between the teeth, and at their upper ends.
A socket C extends from the body at the narrow portion, and in the broad part A of the body between said socket and the teeth are a series of circular holes.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a garden-hoe, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 29th day of May, 1899.
BERNARD SCI-IMALTZ.
