Description

D15-123. OR D30v8l J. 0. SPINDLE.
MILLSTONE.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH C. SPINDLE, OF LORETTO, VIRGINIA.
DESIGN FOR A MILLSTONE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,814, dated May 16, 1899. Application filed A ril 15, 1899. Serial No. 713,210. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH C. SPINDLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Loretto, in the county of Essex and State of Virginia, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Millstone, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a new and original design for a millstone; and the leading or material feature consists in the peculiar configuration or shape given to the lands and furrows thereof.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face view of a millstone constructed according to my design. Fig. 3 is acentral vertical section of the same.
In the annexed drawings the reference-numeral 1 designates the millstone, formed on its face with lands 2, which extend tangentially from the eye 3 to the skirt 4. These lands are narrower at the outer than at the inner ends.
The numeral 5 designates tangential furrows, which are narrower at the inner than at the outer ends, and the numeral 6 designates the straight inner portion of the upper sides of said furrows, as seen in Fig. 2. Said upper sides of the furrows are then given an abrupt taper from the end of the straight portion, as seen at 8, and then tapered gradually to the skirt, as seen at 9.
The numeral 10 designates branch lands, and 12 branch furrows, which intersect the furrows 6. The said branch lands are wider at the inner than at the outer ends, while the reverse is the case with respect to the branch furrows, which are wider at the cuter than at the inner ends.
The numeral 13 designates diamond or lozenge shaped platforms, located between each tangential and branch land at the skirt of the stone.
The numeral 14 designates the picking, which is diagonally arranged with respect to the longitudinal rim of the furrows.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- The design for a millstone, herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
substantially as JOSEPH C. SPINDLE. Witnesses:
JOSEPH O. SPINDLE, J r., W. W. MOTLEY.
