Description

dlnited 5ime JOHN BRYOE, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
Design No. 3,855, dated February 22, 1870.
`DESIGN FOR. QRNAMENTING- GLASSWARE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN BRYCE, of Pittsburg, in the county of' Allegheny, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Design for Glassware; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawing making a part of this specificationpvhich represents a plan view of my improved design, arranged on a section of a glass bowl.
My improved design consists of a strawberry stem of raised prismatic form, leaves of raised and roughened work between the edges and skeletons, which latter are plain faced, and fruit of raised and roughened form, in resemblance of the appearance of the natural berry.
'lhe stems a, with a portion of the vine a', are of raised work of prismatic form in cross-section.
The leaves b have edges corresponding in cross-section to one face of a stem, a, and with skeletons of like unronghened form.
The berries care of raised Work, and are a fac simile of' the natural strawberry, as near as may be.
This design is formed on the glass by cutting the same out of the inner face of the mold in which the article of glassware is to be pressed.
This design I repeat continuously around the central or axial point (l of the article of glassware to which it is applied.
The oval and intersecting raised prismatic beads c, or other suitable style of ornamentation, may be combined therewith at pleasure.
VVha-t I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Let-ters Patent, is
The design for glassware shown, consistingoi` strawberry stems, leaves, and fruit, formed in relieve, and arranged substantially as described.
In testimony whereof, I, the said JOHN BRYCE, have hereunto set my hand.
JOHN BRYGE.
