Description

sind @tithe SAMUEL P. ORINS, OF PROVIDENCE, lifl'lODl ISLAND.
Desir No. 3 (S54 dated b'oftcfnber T 186i).
.l 1 J l 5 *dwf- DESIGN FOR AN ORNAMENT FOR WILCOX 8c GIBBS SEWING-MACHINE."
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent; and ranking part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL l. Cams, of the city and county of Providence, State of Rhode Island, have originated and designed a new Design for Ornament of Wilcox it Gibbs Sewing-Machines, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification- Figure l representing the front side view of said design on said sewing-machines.
Figure 2, the back side view.
Figure 3, the front side oi' lever.
Figure 4, one side, or half' of the base of the machine.
A represents a curved line, running upon different parts ofthe machines, of varying length, according to the size of the part to which it is applied.
B is a serpentine line, intercepting the curved line A, and running the same length, having its beginning and termination at the same point of curved line A.
C represents e leaf, and
D, a. half leaf, throughboth of which the curved line A and the serpentine line B run.
E represents a series of disks, representing grapes, connected by stein F.
G represents a stalk, :ind
H, runners from the leaf C and halfleafD, in iig. 4.
1n fig. 1, the curved line A and serpentine line B are separated from the lower part by the leaf C, grapes E, stein F, and stalk G forming a cluster, so that instead oi' forming one continuous line, as in iig. 2, it is broken.
In tig. 2, the curved line A and serpentine line B are unbroken.
The design aibresaid is to be applied in gilt or colors.
All the figures represent and unite to form one design for one \Vilcox and Gibbs sewing-machine, and are distinguished and diii'erent from eachother, because the mechanical construction of the sewing-inachines forbids the application of every part of the de sign to every part of the machine. The combination forms one design for application to one of Wilcox 8o Gibbs sewing-machines, and the respective parts ot' the design are to be applied to the respective parts of the said sewing-machine.
Whitt I claim as Iny invention, and desire to sccnre by Letters Patent, is
The design for ornament of W'ilcox & Gibbs sewing-machines, herein set forth.
Witnesses: SAML. l. ORINS.
