UNITED STATEs PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY B. BARDEN, OF WALLINGFORD, VERMONT.
DESIGN FOR A GRASS-HOOK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,567, dated May 28, 1901.
Application filed March 8, 1901. Serial No. 50,399- Term ofpatent 14 years.
To aZZ whom) it iitay concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY B. BARDEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of WVallingford, in the county of Rutland and State of Vermont, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Grassl-Iook, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which Figure l is side elevation of a grass-hook emhn Ale features of my design; and -t section on line 2 2, Fig. 1, looking 1U direction of the arrow.
The object is to so design a grass-hook that the shank of the hook will be near the heel of the blade and slightly elevated at that point and the blade will hang at an angle to the cutting edge lower than the back, giving free play for a broad swath of the blade in cutting and preventing the hand from coming in contact with the ground.
The design consists of the blade B, having its cutting edge in a lower plane than its back,
and the shank A, curved abruptly forward from the back in the same plane therewith and in close proximity to the heel of the blade, then inclined inwardly to a point in front of the cutting edge, and then curved outwardly away from the blade with its end standing at approximately right angles to'the blade, whereby the blade will have a dip in direction of the free end of the shank and its cut ting edge will be in a lower plane than the shank.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design fora grass-hook herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
HENRY B. BARDEN Witnesses:
OHAs. F. CAMPBELL, JOSEPH RANDALL.
