\VALLACE DURAND, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A BROOCH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,369, dated June 19, 1894.
Application filed May 25, 1894. Serial No 512,482. Term of patent 3% years.
To and whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, TALLACE DURANI), a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey,have invented and produced a new and original Design for Breastpins, Brooches, and the Like; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which forms a part of this specification.
The figure of the drawing is a face view of a breast-pin or brooch embracing my new design, and is deemed sufficient to fully illustrate the same.
The leading feature of the design consists in a brooch or breast-pin, on the front face of which is displayed an ornamental representation of two fishes at the center, and at its edges having representations of prim-roses.
In said drawing, a, indicates the brooch, Z1, the ornamental figure presenting two fishes, the heads of which face one another and the tails are entwined, and 0, indicates a zodiacal sign for Pisces serving as a central ornament between the bodies of the said fishes. Above said sign, are open panels or spaces for inserip tions. Around the edges of the brooch which are irregular in general outline, are flowershaped ornaments resembling prim-roses, g, and conventionalized leaves or scrolls, 71.
