UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY BERRY, OF SHELTON, ASSIGNOR TO THE DERBY SILVER COMPANY, OF BIRMINGHAM, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A BOWL OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.
SPEGIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,315, dated May 29, 1894.
Application filed March 30, 1894. Serial No. 505,778- Tcrm of patent 7 years,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY BERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shelton, in the township of Huntington, county of Fairfield, and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Bowl or other Articles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof, and in which is presented a perspective view of a bowl bearing and incorporating my design.
The leading features of the design consist in the novel configuration of the bowl and the ornamentation applied thereon substantially as shown in the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing A designates the bowl which has its lower portion convex in outline and its upper portion substantially vertical and meeting said convex portion by a graceful curve. The bowl has an ornamental beaded base 13 and, upon its sides, the vertical grooves O which extend downward from the upper edge of the bowl to the lower convex portion thereof and thence curve along said convex portion and form the central line of the convcntionalizod foliato scroll ornamental figures D.
The bowl is distinctive in the ornate eflcct produced by the extent and relative propor- 3o tions of its upper and lower portions and the grooves C and figures D thereon, as shown in the drawing.
The upper edge of the bowl is provided with the line of scroll ornamentation E and 5 beats the cover F, which contains the grooves I corresponding with and extending downward toward the grooves C in the body of the bowl. The cover F has an elevated center bearing the ornate knob or handle II and containing between the grooves I the ornamental scroll figures J.
In the drawing by dotted lines are indicated a handle and spout as applied to the bowl, such elements being necessary in case the bowl is to form the body of a tea pot, coffee pot or cream bowl.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a bowl and other articles, substantially as shown and described.
Signed at Shelton, Connecticut, this 21st day of March, 1891.
HENRY BERRY.
