Description

[W075 OF D 230082 DESIGN.
J. JACOBS. FRAME FOR VAULT LIGHTS.
No. 23,082. Patented Feb. 20, 1894.
UNITED STATES JACOB JACOBS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A FRAME FOR VAULT-LIGHTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,082, dated February 20, 1894.
Application filed January 22,1894. Serial No.497fl15. Term of patent 14 years- To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAooB J ACOBS, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of New York, and in the State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Frames for Vault- Lights or Illuminating-Tiles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing in which is shown a perspective view of a frame for a vault-light or illuminating-tile made in accordance with my invention.
The object of my invention has been to provide a new and useful design for frames for vault-lights or illuminating tiles, and to this end my invention consists in the design substantially as shown in the drawing and described hereinafter.
In the drawing A designates the base or lower portion of the frame, upon which the lenses are to be supported, and A designates the part of the frame which, projecting upward from A, is to inclose the spaces occupied by the lenses so supported on base A. This part A of the frame, which is in the nature of a rib or vertical flange follows out the configuration of the base, both being so arranged, that the openings for allowing the passage of light and the spaces for receiving the lenses are in the form of octagons B, with circles B filling the spaces intervening between them. The sides of the four adjoining octagons which surround each arch are made curved to correspond with the part of the circle which they come opposite. The other four sides of each octagon which do not come opposite any circle, but are parallel to corresponding sides of the adjoining octagons, are made straight, so that each hexagonal light opening or recess has its sides made alternately concave and straight.
A frame made in accordance with my design has been found to afford very free passage to the light through its openings, and to give a vault-light or tile in which it is used, an appearance which is very pleasing and attractive to the eye.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- The design for frame for vault-lights or illuminating tiles, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 30th day of March, 1893.
JACOB JACOBS. Witnesses:
