DESIGN FOR A PATTERN FOR QUILTING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,247, dated February 28, 1893.
Application filed November 22,1892- Berial No.452,855. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT C. DIEHL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Pattern for Quilting; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
My design relates to quiltings which are manufactured for comfortable-s bed-coverings &c. The design comprises: a number of circlesintersecting each other, and forming a central figure or portion of the design.
A number of straight lines, radiating from the center of the design, in combination with a number of large and small curves at the terminations of each line, and forming one continuous line throughout, in the form of rays, and having a space of equal width between the inner or smaller curves connecting the inner terminations of rays, and the intersecting circles forming the central figure or portion of the design. A number of straight linesin combination andrunning at right angles to each other, forming one continuous line, also forming a border for the design, and having a space of equal width between the large or outer curves of the portion of the design forming the rays, and the portion of the line forming the inner portion of the border. In the accompanying drawing I have represented a piece of quilting ornamented with my design.
a, a, are intersecting circles, the centers of 3 5 which are at an equal distance from the center of the design, and forming the central figure or portion of the design.
I), b, are straight lines radiating from the center 0 provided with curves 1) and b and 40 forming one continuous line in the form of rays, and inclosing the central figure or portion of the design formed by the intersecting circles a, a, and having a space of equal width between the curves 1) and the intersecting circles a, a, forming the central figure or portion of the design.
The lines o, c, are straight lines, running at right angles to each other, in combination, beginning at d, and running in the direction indicated by the arrow, and forming a border for the design, and inclosing the figure or portion of the design forming rays which are formed by the lines b,b, and the curves b and b and having a space of equal width between the lines o, c, and also having a space of equal width between the inner portion of the lines o, c, forming the border of the design,and the curves b; the line 0' is the continuation of the lines o, c, as substantially shown.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a pattern for quilting, as herein described and shown.
