SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,422, dated December 23, 1890.

Be it known that I, RICHARD S. PEARSALL, of Sea Cliff, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and Improved Design for Scissors or Shears, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming apart of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.

Figure 1 is a perspective View, and Fig. 2 an edge View, of a pair of shears embodying my'new design.

The leading feature of my design consists in the thumb-seat olfset from the handle.

A indicates the thumb-seat, and B the member of the handle carrying said seat. The lines of the thumb-seat A at one side join those of the handle B. The upper surface a of the seat A is concaved, and in outline the seat is oblong as viewed in plan. A loop a extends from each side in an upwardly-curving direction.

I claim The design for shears and scissors herein shown and described, the same consisting in the thumbseat and its handle member, the lines of the thumb-seat joining those of the handle at one side.
