To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM G. LAUTNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rochester, county of Monroe, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Burial-Casket, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
In the drawings, Figure l is a View in perspective of the body of a burial-casket, illustrating my design. Fig. 2 is an end View.
The leading feature of my design consists in the form of the body portion.
In the drawings, A represents the body portions of the casket.
A represents the end portions of the body; 60 313116 front portion of the base; a the back of the body portion, and A the bottom or bed of the body portion, the front, back, and bed being shown in Fig. 1 upholstered.
A is a cove-molding attached to the upper edge of the back a of the body portion. The back a is raised substantially to the height of the casket, while the front a is lowered.
The ends A of the body of the casket descend forwardly from the ends of the coVe-moldin g A upon the back (6 to the upper edge-of the front a of the base.
More particularly, the leading features of my design consist in the form or contour of the ends A of the body portion A,surmounted by the cove-molding A upon the raised'back a and the lowered front portion a of the body intermediate the ends. 7 By forming the ends A of such a contour the bed A of the casket is open to the front, giving to the body of the casket the general appearance of a sofa. The general contour of the upper edges of the ends A as shown, descends from the back to the front of the body.
