Description

OR D 289549 DESIGN.
D. O. STOVER. BICYCLE CRANK.
Patented May 3, 1898.
attoq/mcwas,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DANIEL C. STOVER, OF FREEPORT, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO THE STOVER BICYCLE MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-CRANK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,549, dated May 3, 1898.
Application filed February 19, 1898. Serial No. 670,979- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DANIEL C. SrovER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Freeport, in the county of Stephenson and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bicycle-Cranks for Use with Gear-Cases; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a side view of a crank embodying my design. Fig. 2 shows the same structure as seen from the left in Fig. 1.
In the drawings, A represents a driving crank-shaft having crank-arms B 13 extending oppositely in planes approximately perpendicular to the shaft. Ata short distance from the arm B the shaft is provided with an annular flange which extends outward upon one side, forming a tapering arm D in a plane approximately parallel to the plane of the crank-arm. This arm bears near its outer end and upon the face opposite to the crankarm a sprocket driver or pin C, approximately parallel to the shaft. The space between the planes of the two arms 13 D is obstructed only by the shaft A.
The leading feature of the design consists of a shaft having a crank-arm and at a short distance from the latter an annular flange whose margin upon one side of the shaft is approximately concentric with the latter, but which upon the opposite side of the shaft extends outward, forming a gradually-narrowing arm approximately parallel to the crankarm.
Having described my invention, what I claim is- The design for a bicycle-crank herein both shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DANIEL C. STOVER.
