DESIGN FOR A TIRE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,731,
dated October 12, 1897.
Application filed August 16, 1897. Serial No. 648,474- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWIN G. VAN ZANDT, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and original Design for Tires, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevational View of a tire embodying my new and original design. Fig. 2 is an edge elevational view, parts being broken away to show the tire in cross-section. Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross-sectional detail view of the tire. Fig. l is a side elevational view of a portion of the tire.
This invention relates to a new and original design for tires; and it consists, generally stated, in the shape and configuration of the tire, as will hereinafter be more fully set forth and claimed.
The tire embodying my new and original design is formed with a base or seat portion A and convergent side walls B, which, meeting, form a pointed or sharp tread portion (J, the tire being substantially triangular in cross-section.
Each side of the tire is ornamented by two concentric annular concavities I) and b, the outer edge of the concavity b terminating at the base of the tread portion.
The essential features of the design are the convergent side walls configured substantially as herein shown and described.
\V hat I claim is- The design for tires substantially as herein shown and described.
