JAMES S. COPELAND, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE POPE MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE AND PORTLAND, MAINE.
DESIGN FOR A (BEARING-COVER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,437, dated July 27, 1897.
Application filed April 26,1897. Serial No. 634,049. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES S. COPELAND, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and original Design for a Gearing-Cover for Vehicle-Frames; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in
Figure 1, a view in side elevation of the gearing-cover; Fig. 2, a View in rear elevation of a gear-cover.
My invention relates to a design for covers for gearing which form part of or are connected to a part of the frame of a bicycle or like Vehicle and include the crank-shaft, gearing-connecting shaft, and the rear-Wheelgearing covers; and said invention consists in the configuration of the structure, as hereinafter described, and shown in the drawings.
The structure as a whole presents when viewed in side elevation an. elongated body part ct substantially cylindrical in outline, terminating at the rear end in a cylindrical enlargement b and at the front end in a circular enlargement c, the lines of the central and end portions of the structure merging into the lines of the enlargements at the- JAMES s.
