TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, JOHN FAHNESTOCR, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Design for Labels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a portion of this specification, which is a front view of a label made according to my design.

The label is intended to be of rectangular shape, and is provided, except at a portion of its lower edge, with a. fretwork border, presently herein fully described, and has the word cresylic" at its upper part, while its lower portion is occuped by the words or sentence, a perfect disinfectant, manufactured by James Buchan & Co., New York. Between this sentence and the word cresylic" are the transverse lines a the ends of which are united with' the side portion of the fretwork border hereinbefore mentioned. The upper part of the aforesaid borderis made straight and continuous, as shown at (1*, while the side portions thereof are formed in three parts, marked respectively a 6 c, the lower extremities of the parts a b thereof, at one side of the label, being made curved at their lower ends, as shown at a b, and intel-linked with the angular corners e", formed by the junction of the lines a b with the aforesaid side portions of the border, the upper ends of the parts b c being also curved and linked in like manner with the corresponding corners c, at the opposite side of the label. The lowermost part of the said border consists simply of two short lines, f, one at eachside of the label; and at each of the four corners of the fretwork border, and making a portion of the same, is an interlaced ornamental figure, g. The word cresylic is formed in comparatively large capital letters upon a transverse curved line above the lines a b, and the words a perfect disinfectant" are formed in plain black letters immediately below and parallel with the lowermost of the said lines, and beneath the Words last mentioned, parallel therewith, and formed in similar but somewhat smaller letters, are the words manufactured solely by." The words James Buchan t 0o.," are composed of large letters, similar in style to those of the word cresylic and are arranged in a curved line underneath the phrase manufactured solelyA by," and have immediately beneath them the words New York," in similar letters, of somewhat smaller size.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design and configuration of a label, substantially as herein set forth.
