DESIGN FOR A BOX.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,066, dated September 22, 1896. Application filed June 4, 189b- Serisl No. 594,326. Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FRANK VAN CAMP, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Boxes; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forminga part thereof.

My invention relates to a design for a box or carton, the box being adapted especially to receive a single bottle for packing purposes.

The full nature of my invention will appear from the accompanying drawing and the descriptionand claim following.

The drawing shows the box in perspective, the top and two of the sides appearing.

The box is square in cross-section and reetangular throughout.

The sides of the box are designed as shown, the opposite sides being designed alike. The design on one side represents a bottle about the size of a bottle that would conveniently enter the box.

2 is the body of the bottle. The bottle appears in perspective, so that the lower end 3 is curved. as shown. At the upper end appears the design of a cap 4. On the upper part of the cap is shown a beaded head 5and on the lower part of it corrugations 6.

7 is a bead shown about the bottle-neck. The neck of the bottle is surrounded by a band 8, on which I place the representation of a seal 9. 0n the lower part of the neck are shown angular irregular figures 10, on opposite sides thereof, which appear to be continuations of the band 8 about the neck. \Vith this arrangement the design of the body of the bottle on each side forms a neck 11 between the two figures 1O andv band S. About the lower part of the bottle I place the design or representation of a label 12, as shown. At each end of the other side of the box I place sun-like figures 13. Between the figures 13 I have shown a design having a rectangular background 14, with an ornamented border 15, the body of the background being ornamented with representations of plants 1b. In the foreground I represent a cylindrical body shaped likea can, 1?. (Shown in perspective.) On the side of such can I show a portion of a brick oven 18, having a door, from which a cook or chef 19 is removing something. Beneath this figure I place ascrol120. The top is formed of two flaps, which in terloek. From the description of the appearance of the two sides of the box the appearance of the whole box is made plain, as the other sides are reproductions of these two sides.

\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for a-box orcarton, substantially as shown and described.
