HUMPHREY I-IOXVLAND AND CHARLES E. HOWLAND, OF PIONEER, IOWA.
DESIGN FOR A MARKING-POST.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,778, dated October 22, 1895.
Application filed August 31, 1895. Serial No. 561.153. Term of patent 7 years.
lb all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that we, HUMPHREY HOWLAND and CHARLES E. HOWLAND, citizens of the United States, residing at Pioneer, in the county of Humbolt and State of Iowa, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Posts for Marking Corners of Grave-Lots; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which forms a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful designs for cemetery corner-lot-marking posts.
Our design is clearly shown in the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, in which we have shown a perspective view of a post embodying our design, the essential features of the design being the particular configuration and the various ornamentations of the post, which has four plain faces corresponding in outline on opposite sides. The faces incline inwardly slightly from the base to the top of the post. The straight face terminates at a and is continued from this point, forming the convexed outline B, which merges into the concave surface 0, which in turn is continued, forming an oval top to the post.
The side D is straight its entire length, with the exception of two horizontally-disposed recesses E and F, the former being cut in the face D above its middle portion and the latter extending between the two concaved portions 0.
What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a cemetery lot marking post substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof We affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
