Description
U. L. uuua n navy"- OPERA GLASS RBGEPTAULE.
No. 19,100. Patented May 14. 1889.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH E. NEISWANGER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO \VILLIAM .T. JEFFERSON, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR AN OPERA-GLASS RECEPTACLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,100, dated. may 14, 1889.
Application filed March 11, 1889. Serial No. 302,903. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OSEPH E. NEIs'WANGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Receptacle for Opera- Glasses, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof.
The drawing shows a perspective view of my newly-designed receptacle.
A designates the end plates of the receptacle; and B denotes the lower portion of the front, and C denotes the upper portion or cover of the front, of the receptacle. The end plates, A, are curved upon their front edge from top to bottom, and the front edges of these plates are shown as rounded, as at a, these rounded edges 0. of the end plates overlapping the upper and lower portions, B and O, of the front. The lower portion, 13, of the front is shown as a plain verticallycurved plate extending between the end plates, A; but the upper portion or cover, C, of the front is shown as formed of corrugated or ribbed outline, and as well also as curved in vertical direction. The corrugated or ribbed appearance is given to the upper portion of the front, as in practice this upper portion is usually formed of narrow bars or tubes of metal suitably joined together,
and beneath the side edges of this upper portion are the grooves 1) between the front portion, B, and the edges a of the end plates, A. Along the rear edge of the end plates, A, extend the strips D, and these strips are also shown as extending along a portion of the bottom of the front plate, B. These strips may, however, be dispensed with. From each of the end plates, A, projects a perforated plate, a*, and on the cover C of the front is shown a lug, 0, although these features are not regarded as essential. Above the rear portion of the end plates, A, rises the top extension, F, having preferably a curved edge' plate, f. The outer face-plate or front plate of this extension is shown as flat, although it may be more or less ornamented, if desired. From the face of the extension project a lug, h, and a crank-handle, H, and from the edge plate f rises a funnel, G, although these features are not regarded as material parts of my design.
What I claim is- The design for an opera-glass receptacle, comprising the curved end plates and curved front, presenting substantially the appearance shown and described.
JOSEPH E. NEIS\YANGER.
