DESIGN FOR A BUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,066, dated February 21, 1888.
Application filed December 27, 1887. Seri:
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE F. Ennmmnn, a citizen of the United States, rosidi ng at Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a certain new and useful Design for Buckles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, forming a part thereof.
Figures 1 and 3 are plans. are side elevations.
My new design relates to the variety of buckle having a crossbar midway thereof for attaching the buckle-tongue. Heretofore this class of buckle in plan presented usually either broad sides and ends or broad ends and thin parallel sides, and in either casein side elevation the sides curved downward to join the cross-bar, leaving the edges of the strap exposed to view between the end-members of the buckle.
The essential features of my new design consist, first, in the upper inner edges of sides a, approximately straight and parallel, the sides Figs. 2 and 4 \l NoflfifhlFEl. Term of patent 3} years.
a in plan being thin at the central portions thereof, and from thence the outer edges of sides a curve outward andjoin broad end members, b, the latter having rounded corners. In side elevation sides a between the end members are approximately straight along the upper edge, and are deep enough at the central portion to join and conceal the cross-bar.
\Vhat I claim is The design for buckle herein shown and described, and consisting in plan of broad ends having rounded corners and sides having straight and parallel inner upper edges, the sides being thin at the central portion and from thence curving outward, such sides in elevation being straight on their upper edges. such sides being deep enough at the central portion tojoin the cross-bar.
In testimony whereof I sign this specifieation, in the presence of two witnesses, this 27th day of October, 1887.
GEORGE F. EBERHARD.
