Patented Dec UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK MANKEY, OF WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR SURFACE ORNAMENTATION OF WALLS, 8L0.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,401, dated December 1 1885.
Application filed July 18, 1885. Serial No. 171,995. Term of patent years. i
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK MANKEY, of \Villiamsport, Lycoming county, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Surface Ornamentation of Walls, 810., of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographs, forming part hereof.
Figure 1 shows asurface, and Fig. 2 a longitudinal crosssect-ion of the same, on which is formed my new design.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
My design consists in, first, a row of rectangular quadrilateral pyramidal elevations, A, extending longitudinally said surface; second, a row of elongated elevations, B, standing transversely across said surface; the ends of said elevations B are beveled, as shown, and their upper surfaces are rounded; third, a. row of elevations, 0, similar in form and arrangement to elevations A.
The aforesaid elevations of the several rows are separated by transverse spaces or channels, D, and the rows are separated by longitudinal channels or spaces E. Upon the surface of the elongated elevations, B, appears a grain-marking different from that of the flat surface of the channels D E.
I claim- The design for surface ornamentation of walls, 850., substantially as herein shown and described, which consists in the longitudinal rows of elevations A, B, and O, with intermediate channels D E, the elevations B being elongated and extending transversely said surface, and having on their upper surface a different grain-marking from that which appears in said channels.
FREDERICK MANKEY.
