The present embodiment of myin'vention comprises a base 1 designed to bc'secured by screws or similar fastening d evicestol the platform of al shoesliining stand `or parlor, soca1led,'and astandard 2 which rises from the base 1 and which is provided at its upper end with a rearwardly extending heel supporting arm 3 formed at its rear-extremity' with lip-standing lugs 4, and a forwardly projecting sole supporting A arm 5, all of these parts-being preferably integrally con; nected. In thepreferredembodiment of the device, the rearwardly extending arm 3 is slightly curved and rearwardly and upf wardly inclined, while the, forwardly pro-V Ajecting sole supporting` arm 5 is straight and .forwardly landupwardly inclined.

From the foregoing description in connection with accompanyingdrawing, the operation of my improved shoe holder will -be ap` parent. I n the practical use of the device,- upon the person placing his or her heel upon the arm 3-and againstthe lugs 4, the l attendant will pull the rod .Qorwardly by grasping the 'liooko'r finger piece 12, and

tor will release his hold upon the finger piece 12 and the spring 10 will be permitted to act to partially retractthe rod so as to clamp .efficient operation throughout a wide range of usefulness, owing tothe extensibility or adjust-ability of the clamping fingers 12.

` Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new isz- 1. A. device of the character described, embodying a standard provided at its upper end with a forwardly and upwardly inclined arm and a rearwardlyr and upwardly inclined arm, the `rear arm being provided with heel engaging means and the forward arm being formed with a slot, the standard being formed with an opening communicating with said slot, a rod working in said i slot and rearwardly through said opening underneath the rear arm, a spring connectedlmto said rod and tending to move the sanie rearwardly, a finger piece carried by the rod .at the front end thereof, the in-A ger piece projecting downwardly through the slot,' the forwardly projecting Aarm being provided with laterally lspaced upwgardly projecting studs, and clamping {ingers pivotally connected at'their rear ends t0 the rod and provided at their forward ends with toe engaging means, the fingers being formed with cam slots accommodating the studs, for the purpose specified.

2. A device -of the character described, embodying a standard provided at its upper end. with forwardly and rearwardly projecting arms, the rearwardly projecting arm being provided with upstanding lugs, the

forwardly project-ing arm consisting of branches forming a slot between them,'the y standard being formed with an opening communicating with said slot, a rod working in said slot and rearwardly through said opening, a spring connected to said rod un.- derneatli the rearwardly projecting arm, and tending to move the rodrearwar'dly, the rod being provided with'a downwardl extending forward end constituting a Inger piece, said end projecting downwardly through the slot, the forwardly projecting arm jbeing provided on eachv of its branches with an upwardly projectingsti'id, and clamping fingerspivotally ',onnected ,at their rear ends to therod and royided at their forward ends with upstan ing clamping lugs, said fingers being formed intermediate of their ends with cam slots accomm dating the studs, for the pur cse specified.
