CHARLES SCHOFIELD, 0F NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, ENGLAND.
HOLDER-0N.
Application filed January 21, 1910.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known. that I, CHARLES SoHorInLo, a subject of the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Milburn House, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in the county of Northumberland, in that part of the United Kingdom called England, have invented a new and useful Holder-On, of which the following is a specification.
This invention consists in an improved holder-011 for use in connection with pneumatic riveters and in carrying it into effect I proceed substantially as follows making reference to the accompanying drawings wherein- Figure 1 is apart sectional side view of the complete implement and Figs. 2, 3, 4 and 5 details of parts to be hereinafter mentioned.
I provide a casing a of suitable dimensions and closed at one end by a cap b, the opposite end being formed as at c to accom modate a snap (Z free to slide therein. ithin the casing a is a piston 6 between the inner end of which and a cap f is a spiral spring g, the cap f being free to slide longitudinally to a limited extent. The movement of f is determined by slots h in the easing, in which slots are free to slide screws 2' carried by the cap 7", the outer face of the cap being somewhat recessed as at 7'.
Free to slide through the cap 6 is the stem 70 of a socket Z, in which stem is an adjustable screw m, and between the cap I) and a shoulder non the said stem is a spiral Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 11, 1910.
Serial No. 539,239.
spring 0. The inner end of the socket Z is formed to receive the shank p of a fork each arm of which is cam-slotted as at r to receive a pin 8 outstanding on each side of the head z? of the cam lever u, to accommodate which lever head t and fork (7, slots are provided at v and w in the casing a.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 2- In a holder-on for use with a pneumatic riveter, the combination of a slotted outer casing; a snap at one end of the casing; a piston within the casing; a spiral spring behind the said piston; a slidable cap to receive one end of the spiral spring; means for limiting the movement of the said slidable cap; a cam lever having a pin outstanding on each side; a fork, canrslotted to receive the ends of the said pin, and having a stem at one end; a spring controlled socket adapted at one end to receive the said stem and at the other end having a shank provided with an adjustable screw, and a cap at this end of the casing through which cap the said shank passes and against which acts one end of the spring controlling the socket, substantially as hereinbefore described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES SCHOFIELD.
Witnesses JOHN S. SoHorInLo, JOHN SNIFT.
