To all whom fit may concern:

Be it known that I, GUSTAF FREELAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Salt Lake City, in the county of Salt Lake and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lliners Candlesticks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exa-ct description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

rlhis invention relates to new and useful improvements in miners candle sticks and comprises a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.

I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a side elevation of my improved candle stick. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional view. Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the yoke adapted to carry the candle holding member, and Fig. 5 is a detail sectional View. Fig. 6 is a detail view of a part of the invention.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a rod having a loop A at one end and apertured at B for the reception of the arm or yoke C having a split end C. The shank portion of said yoke has a bearing portion C2 affording means whereby the yoke may swing freely in the aperture in the shank portion of said rod. A hook D has a threaded end D engaging the threads in an opening E formed in the shank portion of the rod A Specification of Letters Patent.

and serves as a means to support the device and also as a set screw to hold the yoke C in an adjusted position. Pivot'ally mounted upon the arms of the yoke C is a flexible band F and F is a leaf or feather designed to frictionally engage a candle to hold the same securely in place.

The operation of my invention will be readily understood and is as follows 1-A candle placed in the ring or band may be held, by the pivotal connections shown, so as to be in an upright position whether the device is hung by' hook or the pointed end of the rod made to engage any object and held at different angles.

lVhat I claim to be new is l. A miners candle stick comprising a rod having a yoke journaled thereon, candleengaging means fastened to said yoke, a hook having a threaded end engaging a threaded aperture in the .shank of the rod and adapted to bear against the yoke to hold the same in an adjusted position.

2. A miners candle stick comprising a rod with an aperture therein, a yoke journaled in said aperture in said rod, a resilient candle-holding member pivotally mounted in the arms of the yoke, a hook mounted in a threaded aperture in the rod and engaging the bearing portion of said yoke.

3. A miners candle stick comprising a rod with an aperture therein, a yoke journaled in said aperture in the rod and having arms, a resilient band fastened to said arms, said band having` a laterally projecting lip designed to frictionally engage and hold a candle.
