strut (twine.
, The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may conce/rae letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the coustruction of an eXtensio1vtable,t-he slides of which are provided with rollers, so as to lessen the friction, and make it easier to extend and close the table, as will hereafter be more fully set forth and described.
Figure l is an inverted view of my table.
Figure 2 is a sectional view of the same.
Figures 3, 4, 5, and 6 are different views of the roller-slides.
Lett-er A represents the top of the table, to each side of which is hinged a leaf, B.
To the under side of this top, toward each end, there is attached a cross-piece, C, which has a groove formed in each side, hy means of which the slides D are secured in place, and allowed to more back and forth, so as to close or extend the sides.
To one end of each of the cross-pieces O and slides D, there is secured a roller-slide, G, which consists of a sl'nall metal casting, a, of any suitable shape, which is placed in the grooves, to the top of which is pivoted the friction-.roller c, which fits in the corresponding groove, iu either slide or cross-piece, and serves to lessen" the friction, and Ihake it easier io move the slides back and forth.
To each of the slides I), there is attached the frame H, which is divided into two parts, and which move back and forth with the slides, so as to support the leaves when extended, as seen in fig. 1.
To the bottom of each part ofthe frame, at the inner end, there is secured a rod or bar, K, which acts as a brace to support. the slides, and to keep the frances square and steady.
The castings a may be provided with either one or more rollers, c, as may he desired.
Having thus described my invention,
That I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is`
l. The metallroller-slides G, consisting of the castings a, and one or more rollers, c, when constructed substantially in the manner andffor the purpose set forth.
2. The cross-pieces C, having a groove formed in each side, and provided with a roller-slide, G,upon opposite sides and end, and upon which the slides I) are made to open and close, substantially as set fort-h and described.
3. The cross-pieces C, slides l), roller-slides G, frames H, and rods K, when all are arranged and combined so as to form an extension-table, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand, this 22d day o'f July, 1869.
JACOB DOURSON.
