ANIMATED MINNOW.
Specification of Letters Patent. Application tiled April 4, 1910. Benefits. 553,352.
Patented Au 2, 1910.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HABR A. WILnIaM- soN a citizen of the United States, residing at t. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in imated Minnows, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description,-reference being had to the accomganying drawings, forming part of this speclfication.
My invention relates to improvements in animated minnows which are used as a casting bait, to give to said bait a life like movement as it is drawn through the water in which the movement or act1on of the body of a live minnow is imitated throu h certain mechanical means fully described erein. In the drawings Figure l is a side elevation of the improved animated minnow w1th the actuating mechanism dotted in thebody of same. Fig. 2 is a top view to show the relation of ropeller, shaft, crank and wire abutment. i 3 is an end view of the rear body section showing the osition of wire abutments with relation to od In constructing my animate minnow the body sections are made of either wood or metal stamped or carved to form as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 A and 13. Through the for; ward body section ..A the pro eller shaft E is run to the forward end 0 which the pro eller is attached, the rear end of said she. t being fashioned into'a crank F as shown. l
The rear body section is hin ed. to the front section by metal hinges to allow of an oscillating movement which is im-' 7 parted to same by theaction of the crank on propeller shaft coming into contact with the wire abutments set into the rear body section as shown in Fig. 3. This oscil ating movement is further carried to the tail section 0 through the hinge 'oint I the movement of the tail section C eing directly opposite to the rear bod section thereby car: rying out the effect 0 the swimming movement of a live fish.
The curved wire drag for the minnow is shown in J and is attached to the head of the minnow, the forward end of same is fashioned into an eye to which the line is attached. Thelower end is arranged to secure the hooks which may be two or more in number. These hooks are held suspended to the body of-the minnow by the thin metal In or projection L.
avmg thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is; i
The combination, in an animated minnow, of a body comprising three sections ivertically hin ed together, a crank shaft ournaled in e front bod section, a proller on the forward en of said crank shaft, jstr ikin abutments in the forward end of thesecond I 0d section, whereby, through the action of sai crank shaft on said abutments an oscillating movement is imparted to the second section and a reflex oscillat-.
ing movement is im arted to said third section of the body of t e minnow substantially as described.
