CLOTHES LINE SUPPORT.
APPLIGATION FILED JAN. 19, 1909.
Patented May 24, 1910 WITNESSESQ zyw/ 255% WILLIAM L. ANDERSON, 0F DAVENPORT, CALIFORNIA.
CLOTHES-LINE SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 24, 1910.
7 Application filed. January 19, 1909. Serial No. 473,380.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM L. ANDER- SON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Davenport, in the county of Santa Cruz and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Line Supports, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in clothes-line supports.
The object of my invention is to provide a support for an endless rotatable clothes line, whereby the same is prevented from sagging by the weight of the clothes suspended for drying secured thereto, and which consists of a plurality of guys adjustably supported so that the line will be evenly sustained notwithstanding that some part thereof may be subjected to a greater strain than other parts and which is simple in construction and can be operated by a child as well as an adult.
Referring to the accompanying drawing the same consists of a side view of my said invention.
In the drawing 1 designates each of two suitable supports to which are secured the plates 2. The said plates have suitably mounted thereon the pulleys 3 adapted to carry the endless line 4. The upper portion of each of said plates carries an eyelet 5 to which is secured one end of the supporting or messenger wire or line 6. Movably supported on the wire 6 are a plurality of rings 7 to which are attached guys 9, the lower,
ends of which are secured to rings 8 which pings are penetrated by the lower end of the inc 4.
In operating the device the guys 9 may be moved to either side by drawing or pushing and the spaces between them can be arranged equidistantly or as may be desired to give increased support to any weighty article suspended from the clothes line.
Having thus described my invention What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a device of the character described, the combination with oppositely positioned supports of a pair of plates having arms projecting laterally therefrom and eyelets secured thereto above said arms, vertically positioned pulleys mounted on said arms, a messenger wire between said supports secured to said eyelets, an endless line mounted on said pulleys, a plurality of rings on said messenger wire, a plurality of rings on the lower extension of said endless line, and vertically extending guys, one end thereof being secured to the rings on said messenger wire and the other end thereof being secured to the rings on the lower extension of said line.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM L. ANDERSON.
