IMPROVEMENT IN SHOES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making p art of the same.
To all persons to whom these presents mag/ come Be it known that I, Amos S. KELLY, of Haverhill, of the county .of Essex, and State of Massachusetts,
have invented a new and useful Invention, having Lreference to Shoes; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure l is. atop view, and

Next I insert and fix, by sewing or otherwise, in
each of the slits, when so opened, a gore, c, to till the space.
The shoe is next to be iinished in the ordinary way.
ln this manner I am enabled to make not only an ornamental shoe, but one which usually willtt bett-er to the instep, and not bind inconveniently thereon, as would be the case ofte-n were the vamp not cut and bent as explained.
My invention is specially applic-able to slippers,'in whiohl usually make the gore of pieces of red woven leather, and the vamp of black glazed leather, or that of other proper kind or color.
