ORCISCO E. JONES, OF FREMONT, OHIO.
TOOTH-BRUSH HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 14, 1909.
Application filed July 27, 1909. Serial No. 509,903.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OROISOO E. Jones, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Fremont, county of Sandusky, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tooth Brush Holders, of which the following is a full and clear specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of my improved tooth brush holder closed; Fig. 2 a similar view of the inner casing or pocket removed; and Fig. 3 a perspective view of the complete package, showing it substantially as it may be placed on the market.
The object of this invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive tooth brush casing or holder in which the brush may be inclosed when it is sold upon the market, so that it shall thus constitute an original package and shall consequently be capable of use by the purchaser as an individual holder, capable of being conveniently carried in ones satchel or pocket.
One object of the invention is to so con struct the holder that it shall keep the brush in perfect sanitary condition by excluding all foreign matters from contact with the brush, and a further object is to so construct the double casing that either or both may be used to carry a small supply of dental powder or liquid as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In its preferred construction the holder consists of two casings or pockets one inclosed within the other and being removable at will therefrom. The inner casing a is a very thin but tough imperforated rubber pocket, closed at its lower end and open at its upper end, slightly longer than brush handle, over which it folds, along each side, as well as over end, thus keeping out dust and other foreign matters and at the same time retaining any liquid or dental powder that may be contained in the casing. This casing is to be sufficiently thin and flexible to permit the brush to be easily inserted and withdrawn.
The outer casing c'may be made of paper or of a suitable material which will serve to protect the inner casing in handling or transportation and it is closed at its lower end so that it may be used to hold a small quantity of antiseptic or other powder.
This outer casing is open at its upper end so that the inner casing may be readily inserted and removed therefrom, and this open end of the casing is adapted to be closed by a flap (Z formed by extending one wall of the casing, this flap being adapted to be bent down upon the body of the casing and to be detachably fastened thereagainst in any suitable manner and preferably by an elastic band a, as shown which band is fastened to the end of the flap and is adapted to be slipped around the body of the package and thus clamp the flap against the outer face of the package.
The casing a extends beyond the upper end of the tooth brush sufliciently to permit its mouth portion to be folded over with flap (Z and thus be closed and be maintained in a closed position until the outer casing is opened. This manner of closing the inner casing still further insures the sanitary condition of the brush and the retention of whatever antiseptic preparation is carried in the inner casing.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A tooth brush holder or container consisting of an inner pocket or casing of thin elastic water proof material closed at its lower end and open at its upper end and having a length greater than the brush, and an outer pocket like casing adapted to receive the said elastic casing and having its upper end extended beyond the elastic cas ing and adapted to be folded over to close the upper end of the outer casing, the upper collapsed end of the elastic casing being i11- closed in said fold and clamped against the outer wall of the outer casing to thereby seal the inner casing, and the said folded end of the outer casing being provided with means for fastening it.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses this Qetth day of July 1909.
ORCISCO E. JONES.
