THOMAS V. CROMWELL, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
VTIRE WALL-POCKET.
Application filed March 10, 1909.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS V. OROM- WELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in ire all-Pockets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to wall pockets, the
I object of the invention being to provide a a detail horizontal section through the same.
In the manufacture of the improved wall pocket, a single length of wire is bent into proper shape to form an arched marginal top wire 1 with a central supporting eye or loop 2, integral side bars 3 forming the margins of the back of the pocket, forwardly extending bottom wires 1 forming the ends of the bottom of the pocket, upstanding marginal wires 5 defining the opposite side edges of the front wall of the pocket, and a connecting wire 6 forming the top marginal wire of the top wall of the pocket. All of the marginal wires thus far described are formed in one piece from a single length of wire of the requisite gage to give the necessary stiffness to the wall pocket as a whole. The end frames are each formed from a single length of wire and separately from each other, the wire being bent into a continuous section of a triangle to comprise the downwardly converging side bars 7 and 8, the top connecting wire 9, the bottom connecting wire 10, the top wire 9 being of greater length than the bottom wire 10. The end frames or sections are covered with meshed wire fabric as shown at 11 and the back, bottom and front walls of the pocket Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 7, 1909.
Serial No. 482,460.
are also covered with corresponding meshed wire fabric as shown at 12, 13 and 14- respectively, the marginal wires forming side bars of the front, back and bottom of the pocket and the corresponding bars of the separately formed end walls being lashed or wired together in any convenient manner.
Secured to the outer side of the inclined front wall of the pocket is a plate or panel 15 which may be of any desired size to contain advertising or other matter. Thisplate or panel is secured permanently to the front wall of the pocket by means of hanger straps 16 of metal which are folded centrally around adjacent horizontal wires of the fabric, as shown in Fig. 2, said straps being folded upon themselves and brought to lie against the inner face of the plate 15 against which they are securely held and clenched by means of split rivets 17 inserted through perforations in the plate 15 and the straps 16 and clenched behind the straps as shown in Fig. 3, each of the rivets being provided with an enlarged head 18 which lies against the outer exposed surface of the plate or panel 15. The extremities of the straps are retained between the rear side of the plate 15 and one or more of the horizontal fabric wires of the front wall of the pocket as shown in Fig. 2.
I claim:
A wire wall pocket embodying a back, a bottom, an inclined front, and end walls, all composed of wire fabric and reinforcing marginal frames, in combination with a plate or panel secured to the front wall of the pocket, hanger straps of metal embracing the fabric wires of the front wall, and split rivets inserted through said plate and through the hanger straps, each of said straps being folded upon itself and. having the extremities thereof held between said plate and one or more of the fabric wires of the front wall of the pocket, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
THOMAS V. CROMWELL.
Witnesses:
